While this game is made by the same person who did the Tales game, this is not as good as the Tales games. This game is too cliché with the plot and events, some bad ideas for gameplay, and by far the worst VO in a JRPG.

That is some horrible voice acting.  How do people still play this trite crap?  The JRPG needs to die.

This looks like a pretty standard JRPG, but a good option for a Wii owner looking for that kind of game to play.  I like the art design all right, but I get the feeling that I'd mostly be playing this game with the sound off and a stereo on.   
 
I thought Matt Kessler did a great job here, very informative quick look that hits all the basics.  The vocal delivery style will improve over time I'm sure, it wasn't bad, but the more he does it the more relaxed he'll get.  Keep up the good work!

You're a very classy wing man for your intern Jeff and I can respect that.  Kessler did fine in this video.  A little high on the hyperbole but he still shows potential for being a winning personality of Whiskey media.  You'll find your sweet spot for commentary eventually Kessler.  You just need to relax and come up with a bit more pop culture references.  Keep making videos!

Kessler for all RPG's as 99% of them are as boring as boring can be so someone with some kind of awareness of them and their tropes works for me.

So here I was thinking it was an alright video, and then I take a quick look at the comments section and see people spouting 4chan memes and taking personal offense over the video not being up to their standards. When did Giant Bomb start turning into YouTube?

This looks like a very cliched jRPG with some atrocious voice acting. Just by giving the option to turn those off the game gets better.
Still not good enough to even remotely interest me though.

so this game has a knock-off materia system(WP), a similar mana/AP system as dragoneers aria(o gawd i hated that game) , and a sphere grid. 
 
Just another low-grade JRPG.

Kessler's problem is he always uses a "radio voice" if he just spoke naturally he'd come off a whole lot less annoying.

Kessler is definitly getting better, but it still feels like he needs to get his own style.
 
As for the game, VOs are so bad that its funny.

I'm going to ignore the kessler hate/stop hating comments and say  jeez kessler going to get stuck with all the JRPGs? Must feel kind of boring. I like me the JRPGs but to have a time crunch on it and have to know I'm going to be reviewing more would make me feel awfully bored.

Seems like a great game, bogged dow by bad voice acting and characters. Feels like a Tales game with the Tales "magic". Oh and apparently it has the Euerka 7 character designer and Chrono Trigger composer I think.

No, still one of the greatest genres. The MegaTen titles alone make it worthwhile. "

Anyway, liked the QL. He's informative, but I don't think I'll be picking this up.

This was painful to watch. Kessler, stop trying to teach us everything about this game, the best thing about Quick Looks is their spontaneity.

I think I like Kessler. Everyone else at Giant Bomb sounds so bored and uninterested. It's nice to see someone who actually shows interest in the games he's playing, and who does actual research instead of going off and giving false information.

I can't wait for summer to end.

The fact of the matter is the JRPG has not evolved in any way, shape or form since it's glory days.  A good JRPG like Persona is a rarity.  Crappy, cookie cutter titles like the one in this QL are the norm.  Where as the Western RPG and the FPS have seen constant improvement and multiple amazing titles this generation.  The JRPG needs to die, not the messenger. I completely agree. The "problem" is that is it a radio voice or his normal voice? His voice on here, on TNT/live feeds and on that one defend your movie bit that screened.com does is the same. Is his radio voice always on or is Matt naturally always on? "

Kessler still sounds like a knife salesman. irritates the hell out of me.
