Quick Look: Chuck's Challenge 3D

The art makes me sad. And angry.

Man, I played a shitload of Chip's Challenge back in the day, some of the later levels (up in the 100s) were devious as hell. This definitely looks to have a lot of the same mechanics - that user-created level in the QL with all the curved ice paths brought back some nightmares.

I'm glad there's an option to turn off the blur, that just seems like a bad idea for a puzzle game.

So i'm glad there's an option to turn off the blur but what I don't understand is why the blur is there in the first place. What possible effect could the designer be trying to produce with that? edit--- okay, so it says "mini blur" which means it is supposed to be a tilt shift kinda thing. It doesn't work. Tilt shift only works if the viewer has an outside frame of reference. Meaning, seeing the photo, interpreting the look of it as small scale, but at the same time understanding that the subject is not small scale. These are just cartoon blocks without any other background to judge them against.

I don't mean to be hard on the game itself, it looks like a good puzzler. My criticism is limited strictly to that visual effect.

Nice, I would've never seen this game without the quick look. I might pick it up on sale.

...Very annoyed that they didn't see the special crushable walls. Especially on stage one.

That mini-blur effect should remain off for the rest of eternity.

Am I the only one who sees Despicable Me's Minions in the background? It looked really obvious when they zoomed out, but maybe I'm just making shapes out of the clouds.

This looks like garbage, would not buy at 85% off on Steam which it is sure to be very soon.
