Loved what this game does, and sources from, for graphics and art. The gameplay looks a bit tedious, least what I saw here. But that's on me, rather than a complaint.

Does no one else think, the setup of Cuphead... is basically ghost rider (Nicholas Cage version, collecting contracts for the devil) ?!?!

A lot of people are expressing a lot of doubts about the gameplay and its feel. Looking at what Ben has said and just about every reviewer who has touched this game, this game has the gameplay chops to back up its visuals.

Just played this game start to finish in one sitting during my stream today. Definitely going to be one of those games that sticks in my memory for a long time. The unique levels and enemies throughout the entire game kept me stunned visually and the music was top notch as well. This game has to win best style this year.

Game is awesome. Looks like something developer Treasure made back in the day in terms of it being a quality shooter, most of the battles being boss battles, and the amount of creativity in its presentation. Another thing, developers who want to use a imitation CRT feature in old arcade and console games can learn a lot from Cuphead. The presentation looks like a genuine CRT video signal, not a lazy filter that makes the game look worse. Developers need to hit up their social media and ask how they pulled it off.

Hot damn, I have not been this impressed with a game in a long, long time. This looks incredible.

I played this at a friend's house last night..

As amazing as it looks / blown away as I've been since the start, I was pretty floored seeing it in-person. I'm super happy the game itself is also really fun and gives you that itch to keep trying, because this is a hell of an achievement.

I'm feeling intense disappointment on two fronts right now:

1. This just HAD to come out this year and steal Best Styyyyyle away from Persona 5 (the only category where that game was going to its due props), and

2. This game is never coming to PS4.

My desire to play this is at a strong 0, but gosh darn if it isnt one of the coolest looking things

Games Are Art.

There is no way Cuphead doesn't win best style this year. It's not even a debate. They need to just declare the game the winner and move on. Ruiner has great style, Persona 5 has awesome style. So much so, that Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony rips off a lot of it. But Cuphead has perfect style, for being literally a classic cartoon you can play. That is an amazing achievement.

Dang. I know games like Uncharted Lost Legacy and Star Wars battlefront 2 are/will be some of the most stunning 3D games this year. But man Cuphead ought to clean house for Best Graphics awards on different gaming outlets. Visually its stunning for capturing the 1930's cartoon aesthetic perfectly! Heck I might say its better animated entertainment than a good number of 2017's animated movies.

Just picked this up. It's freaking rad.

I always love what brings people to games, and how varied our approaches and interests can be. I feel if it was exploration based RPG, that would be the reason I wouldn't buy it, and the fact that it is a boss rush in the Contra-style is a major plus for me. I adore the way it plays, and the type of game it is; the only knock against it is that I think it would have been an even better package if the run and gun sidescolling wasn't included and they kept it as a boss rush like they intended. So I would disagree that it's a bad thing or a good thing, it's just a thing, as the thing driving you away is the thing keeping me here.

Best time to be playing video games.

I think this is one of the best looking games ever made. What an accomplishment.

The boss battles look great but the "run and gun" levels look really bad almost as if they were tacked on... huh

@brimstone: I noticed that too. Had to turn my speakers up way more than any other QL.

@agemyth: Yeah I noticed the same thing. I had to boost my volume up pretty high to be able to hear.

Super low audio on this one. Would be real nice if you guys had a bit more consistency with audio levels across your videos.

Guys, I don't get it... Sure it looks cool, but the gameplay just doesn't seem fun to me at all. I say that having not put my hands on this game so that with a grain of salt.

Also 2D indie darling platformers never have been appealing to me. I usually play them about 3 to 4 hours before I bounce off them some around the 2nd or 3rd play session. So I'm just going to give this game a preemptive, "Nah, im cool."

It's almost as if...

I remember when they announced they were adding traditional platforming levels, and felt like the internet noise machine got the better of them. Having played the final game, they should have stuck to their original vision, because the bosses are out of this world incredible.

If the gameplay was as imaginative as everything else presented, I would be very much into this. Just looks far too shallow and generic.

This looks really great but I just have too much on my plate to start ANOTHER new platformer. Still playing Sonic Mania and Samus Returns, with Steamworld Dig 2 waiting in the wings. I'll probably pick this up in a sale down the line, but am in no rush to play it now. It's a shame this didn't come out like 2 months ago when I wasn't drowning in new games.
