This seems neat. I'm glad they went with PS Plus, hopefully it helps to get them a decent audience the way Rocket League did (I don't like the game quite as much as that, but I am enjoying it).

Few things:

The pink trail means you've thrown it as fast as you can. The reason popping up the disc is important other than a fully-charged pop for super is if you're on the run and want a second to prep a pink trail throw. You can pink trail any kind of curve if you do it fast enough. And finally, you can never pink trail throw after a dash, or rather, you need a bit of time between the dash and the throw to be able to get the pink trail. Oh also, you have super lobs and super quick curves as well, though I'm not finished with the video yet so maybe you figure that out.

I've got over 100 hours into this game ...really love it.

This game looks pretty good but it... just doesn't have the hype of Windjammers? Like, the animations all look kinda dead and it doesn't look like it has the intensity of Windjammers. Maybe that'll change once I actually get my hands on it idk.

There are a lot of Windjammers style games out there now, and while nothing comes close to the original this seems like a very well made take on it.

This game is very good on the basic level but doesn't quite have the polish of Rocket League; more important there aren't like a billion youtube channels covering it so it's sort of doomed to just have a small devoted audience from the outset. If it was going to be Rocket League it would have happened by now, strange as that sounds; but if a game is older than a week it's basically ancient history in modern reckoning. I like it a lot but given that the audience will be small it will be basically impossible to win after the PS+ month and kind of before that as well? There's rudimentary matchmaking and I have ~80 wins, so the game wants me to play against other 80+ win people which just isn't that interesting unless you play the game constantly.

I've been playing for about a week now and it's been super fun. Wish I could do more 2v2 stuff but games take forever to be found and I've experienced really bad lag making it unplayable for myself.

Looks cool, and a worthy successor to Windjammers (and the addition of the "Doubles" mode is both brilliant and also the most logical way for the game to evolve)...

But Split-screen for local MP play seems like a strange decision. I think I would personally have preferred one screen, with the players switching sides of the court between sets (in the way most tennis games did it).

I dunno about that scoring system. I get that it increases tension and stuff, but it seems like some major rubberband potential.

I liked what I played of the beta. It doesn't have the styyyyle of Windjammers and the different perspective can be a bit tricky in multiplayer but other than that I think it's very fun.

@fredchuckdave: I have to have well over 100 wins by now (wish I could say for sure, but there's no stat tracking) and I'm still getting matched with people who play like they haven't even gone through the training mode. That, or I'm a freak which is almost certainly not true. The only time I face tough opponents anymore is when my buddy and I play doubles for some reason.

There is no skill-based matchmaking currently. The stats are tracked, but it's not implemented yet. This will be one of the first things they enable. It really is only 2 guys making the game, and they've already had a number of patches. I'm willing to bet it happens soon, as the skill chasm is already starting to grow and it's going to affect people's enjoyment.

I'm loving this game so far. The match lengths are perfect, and it has the "just one more game" addiction going on. Really, really impressed.

Gave it a second shot after not liking the beta. I have a much better grasp on timing the analog stick with my throws, and it's 100% more fun now. My main issue is the orientation of the camera causing me to misread where the disc is in relation to the character, but besides that its really fun.

There's no rubberbanding. It's kind of awesome, actually. The longer a rally goes, the more points winning that rally is worth. So it can make for some really exciting comebacks. I don't believe the game ever actually teaches you that, which would probably be a good thing for them to do.

Hoping they get skill-based matchmaking in soon. I probably win 24 out of 25 matches. The surprising thing is that the community seems to be so awesome that even when you're stomping someone they'll keep playing you over and over. I guess trying to get better by learning how you play? Whatever the reason, it's cool that people seem to enjoy the game and are polite with the in-game quick chat even when they're getting thrashed.

@ep_driver: Weirdly, I find that the people I beat the tar out of are more likely to rematch with me than the ones I have a closer game with.

I've probably lost a total of five games and only faced one person who beat me more than I beat them. I wish I'd gotten their PSN name down so I could try again later, and without using Haruka who is garbage as far as I'm concerned. But again, it's hard to say if I'm actually any good. So many people it just feels like they don't really understand how the basics of the game work.

Game is really great. Needs more players though. There is lacking that "mid-range" player from what I can tell playing for a month or so. You either go up against someone who has been playing since beta and is pro af, or someone who just got it.

The lack of feedback of the ranked system is also not great. There is (I asked the devs on their forums and they confirmed) a ranking/matchmaking system in place, but you wouldn't know from the interface. I think that also discourages new players from sticking with the game. I really fear for the games longevity.

*This is on the PC side of things. Not sure there is cross-platform play or how it is on PS4.

**Also shields are really good for playing net. IMO that is their main use. And there are supers for lobs and curves as well. The selectable super is only for the normal throw. The curve does a super wallride-shot. Lob super just kinda chucks it forward really fast.

@ep_driver: But the system basically allows a player to lose three quick points and then win one (admittedly fairly long) point and end up in the lead. I mean, you could theoretically be at zero points and one point away from losing then play the most insanely long point ever and win instantly.

Everything about the presentation of this game from the look of the characters to the music is terrible. It's super cheap, like some weird ass phone game brought to console. The game feels fine I guess, but I was immediately pretty bored of it. I just lacked any excitement I want out of a game like this.

Showed two friends this game over the weekend, we haven't had so much fun or exhibited so much video game induced hype since the salad days of Rocket League.

Really surprised that Jeff and Brad didn't encounter the other team spiking the fuck out of them with the shield. So far almost every doubles match I have played has been consisted of an opposing team that is SAVAGE with the spikes. Hey though, taught me how to do it, and now I relish doing it myself.

@ares42: Rubberbanding refers to the game artificially giving you an advantage based on your current disadvantage, no skill involved. To go from zero points to keeping a rally going long enough to win a game even with 15 points is absolutely dependent on you being really good at this game. It's very hard to be perfect at, so it takes a bunch of skill. That is not rubberbanding at all.

This game is fun. Gives me a WINDJAMMERS fix kind of... (Never can replace a real WINDJAMMERS sesh).

It needs a ladder or something...I do not like the fact you just join up and go. I want to work towards a rank or a tier blah blah blah...

Still awesome and fun...Need to turn down the game tunes and get some music of your own on a playlist.
