BRAD DOES IT AGAIN

Played about 2 hours last night. Seems pretty fucking great! Much more Doom then Doom 3 was. But yea, I turn that BS neon kill stuff off.

I was super skeptical about this game but it's cool too hear these guys showing some enthusiasm for it. I might have to play it.

Anyone buying this on PC, "+set m_smooth 0" in your launch options on Steam to get rid of the mouse smoothing that for some reason doesn't have a toggle in the options.

Great game so far. I'm still way early though.

Also there is a Rune that speeds up the melee kills even faster.

I love the numerous moments where the game says "Here's the storyline....PSYCH! We don't give a fuck about 'story'; just blow stuff up!"

On the flip side, though, it is shady as HELL (ho ho ho) that ID Software scrubbed Steam of negative reviews of the Beta. Steam already labels early-access reviews as such with a impossible-to-ignore notice at the top of said reviews, so it's not like the publisher/developers had any legitimate concerns about people thinking that the Multi-Player Beta Test coloring their review score. It just reeks of tone-deaf arrogance -- "How dare these peasants give our perfect game a negative review! They just don't understand our art!"

This is why they needed to invest in robots. And maybe other undead.

Sooo ready to pick this up on payday. Doing everything in my power to not start watching playthroughs.

I heard this game goes into Doom Guy's backstory. I imagine it starts something like "young Bradley moved to San Francisco for some video game job..."

This looks fluid in a historic shooter way, while also being super high fidelity.. Definitely interested.

I actually liked the multiplayer beta. Was it purely Doom as we know and love and want it? Nah. Was it a fast, frantic, violent killathon that harked back to the era of Quake III? Fuckin' yep. And that's exactly what I wanted. It's the style of speedy no-time-to-celebrate multiplayer that I (and I'm sure others) have nostalgia for, and I'm so glad it's back.

I'm typing this while lying in bed on a Saturday morning, knowing that this new Doom game is sitting on my PS4, having downloaded overnight. I should probably just get up and play it.

@dasakamov: They didn't "scrub" the reviews. The Doom Page and the Doom MP Beta page were always two separate products pages per Steam rules. The MP Beta page was always going to disappear after the beta was over, positive or negative.

Someone has to tally the total hours that brad has played Doom on giantbomb

Also i can't buy this fucking thing even if it's great. I already bought that damn horse game on 3ds!

Environmental design not doing much for me. Enemies are well distributed too, no huge sea of imps in front of you like in the older games. Gotta wait for reviews.

Could not care less about Uncharted 4 and Doom's multiplayer but both single player/campaigns are fantastic.

As much as I respect Doom 3, this very much appears to be the game I wished that was, all those years ago.

Yeah, I'm a little over halfway through Uncharted's campaign and I'm loving it so far. Played a couple hours of Doom this morning and, well, I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Holy shit, this looks great!

The campaign has been great so far. I'm enjoying this game way, way more then Doom3.

Man, I wish you could skip all story parts by punching the computer of storyteller in the face, like with come bosses in Asura's Wrath.

@dasakamov: Wouldn't all those reviews be based off of the multiplayer that no one is buying this game for?

I have watched three minutes of this video and a minute into the story I am fully on the fuck board.

So they just went full X-O Manowar with the armor. That's pretty rad.

@jeff Hold on a minute. A multiplayer beta of a game that has several modes disabled, where people can write user reviews for it even if they never purchase it, should not be used as the same set of reviews for a final complete game in which only people who actually purchased it can write reviews for it. It got to the point with the Doom MP beta where people were obviously writing joke reviews or booting the game up and closing it in order to just write negative reviews.

Do you seriously think those reviews are valuable to someone interested in buying the game when compared to post-release user reviews from people who actually paid money and (hopefully) experienced more of what the game has to offer? I don't think you actually think that.

And then consider that in Steam's default system, if they had kept those MP beta reviews, they would be averaged against the post-release reviews 1:1. It would have put an unfair black mark on the game that basically would never be reversed.

Perhaps Valve could have kept the MP beta page up as a separate page so those bad reviews of that MP beta could live on in posterity, but imagine how many people are going to buy Doom, (theoretically) have a great time with the single player and snap map, not even bother with the MP or be so impressed with the SP that they still give the game a positive review despite the bad MP. And because those people all had to pay money for the game, those reviews will never outnumber the ones for a free, limited version of the game.

Anyway, I don't know if this game is good. The MP beta seemed bad but I'm cautiously optimistic about the SP. I wasn't going to pre-order it either way, so it's not like I'm someone who would get "caught" by them sneaking a bad game out without reviews. I just think you were being a little ridiculous at the start of the video regarding that and I hope you were mostly joking.

I don't think i've had this much fun playing a FPS campaign in years. This is everything I wanted it to be. Why in the bloody hell is Bethesda hanging its marketing campaign on deathmatch?

EDIT: You can return to completed levels from the menu.

I'll be interested to see if they have more negative feelings about the fairly heavy platforming that comes up later in the game.

The energy weapons sound completely antithetical to the entire game. It sounds like shooting bunnies at blood bag demon spawns.

Gosh, there's a lot of positive buzz going about this game. I hope by the end of the weekend, when everyone finishes the game, it will still be positive.

Bleh...those melee kills look so boring and repetitive, and the fact that they're kind of mandatory is a real bummer to me. That was the number one thing that put me off the E3 reveal demo. I was hoping you could just play this as a straight shooter and ignore that bullshit.
