This looks bizarre. The character sprites look just like on the NES while the backgrounds feature way more colors and details. Not that I care, I always thought Double Dragon was pretty bad. Except for Neon.

This is a horrendously dull game, unfortunately. I was hoping for something a little better in all honesty.

Lots of boring levels that are all terribly short, along with really easy/dumb enemies and boss fights. As Alex says, "it's not horrible"...but it is fairly sub par.

Compare this to the effort that went into the Streets of Rage Remake, there is no contest.

@lestephan: I have a real weird affection for Double Dragon Neon. I don't think I beat it, but found it pretty funny and had a lot of fun playing it with my wife. I appreciated the neo retro 1980's direct to VHS aestetic they were running with.

Neon had a dedicated High-Five button. Double Dragon IV does not. QED Neon is the best Double Dragon game.

Double Dragon Neon also had arguably the single greatest use of the "Achievement/Trophy awarded" pop-up.

Tell me please?

Once you beat the final boss Giga Skullmageddon and knock him off a ledge, he proceeds to single a really awesome song about the game, his plan and you as the end credits roll. About 1:10 into the song, his lyrics about "here's a medal" coincides with the game popping up the bubble letting you know you got the "Victory!" trophy/achievement.

As I said, you can skip to about a minute in to get the experience, but, really, the entire thing is fantastic.

Alex said those sound effects were authentic. They aren't. It did not sound like this.

What a massive boondoggle this is. Cringe-inducing the entire way, even if they were going for that nostalgic feel of the originals. That doesn't stop the fact that it's 2017 and you can simply do better, in every conceivable way, than they did with this turd. Especially with an iconic franchise beloved by mil-... thousands?

When Vinny "hit" Alex with that box, and actually DID DAMAGE, I died a little inside. But I also laughed my ass off, so there's that.

Why do a remake of the crappy 8-Bit port? I remember being a huge fan of the Arcade as a kid and being really disappointed when I bought a copy for Master System, as it looked like shit... much like this.

Wait. Is all this fervor coming from how it looks rather than how it plays? It looks like a NES port therefore is? Despite the fact its a game built in Unity in 2017?

Double Dragon 3 was underrated. Chin Seimei was the bomb.

Also popping my head into these comments and am very pleased to see Double Dragon Neon and its OST being spoken highly of in here, especially Mango Tango. Since Mango Tango has been posted a few times, I'm gonna post my other favorite song from that game.

IIRC, each special attack in the store got its own short song accompanying it.

As someone who never had a NES, the Master System is the only way to play Double Dragon.

Double Dragon Neon is a game that continues to look better with age.

DDIV certainly keeps in the tradition with the bad DD sequels, of which there are many.

Is Giant Bomb East working now in retro mode? I don't understand what they are playing and choosing not to play.

Bleh. I'm totally up for games that go back to that classic NES aesthetic... I even think the idea of going back to the gameplay style of the old Double Dragon games is a neat idea... but in terms of the NES aesthetic, this doesn't seem quite as authentic as something like Shovel Knight or Odallus: the Dark Call... or even Retro City Rampage.

It's also odd coming from Arc System Works. Given their track record, I would've thought they'd be above this kind of thing, but it really seems like they just slapped this together to make a quick buck.

Well... zzz...z..zzzz.. this is a new sleeping pill... zzzzz....

Darn, it looks beyond boring! And to think this is released to PS4. Epic fail.

Play Neo Double Dragon. Even only for the end song, it's well worth it.

Good thing I have that game!
