Quick Look: Dragon Age II: Legacy

I actually like DAII (yes I said like. I still play it now and then). I had no problem with the characters or the story. I have played legacy and I thought it was a fun addition. Loved the "Anders" reference by Brad :)

X-Com? Yes, please! The intro alone interested me more than the entire QL for this DLC.

Dragon Age 2 was such a disappointment. 
 
I loved the first one and everything about Dragon Age 2 just made me want to get the game over with in a hurry.

Dragon Age II was so shitty it kind of soured me on the whole series. :[

X-COM quicklook! Please please please!

DA2 was OK, a fairly competent 3 star game. I still completed it twice, though I hardly care enough to give in another £8 just for an extra 2 hours or so.

Not to be a backseat gamer or anything, Vinny, but Anders might not die so much if you spend a few points on his Constitution, and make sure to use your Taunt skill to pull enemies off of him. Just sayin' I totally agree with your distaste for him, though. He was such a great character in Dragon Age: Awakenings, and they turned him into a whiny, emo crazy person in DA2.

If you're really adamant about not using Anders (like I was during my second play through) your sister has the basic healing spells -- just not the group heal or the revive, like Anders does. She's a passable substitute, so long as you don't play too recklessly. The only way to get access to the passive skill that removes injuries is to make Hawke a Mage and take the Spirit Healer specialization, unfortunately.

X-com quick look, PLEASE

I like the esthetic and the story but the gameplay just never could grab me. But, hee, I like watching people playing this game!

The best part of the quicklook is seeing the lone bookmark in Firefox.

This is definitely one the better pieces of DLC out there. Going back to the main game and it's wave-based combat is kind of a bummer. It's great that they brought back the whole voice cast too; it's always kind of weird when your companions are silent, like in ME2.
 
Also, I absolutely loved the batshit decisions your companions made in the main game. Though I do feel kind of weird for supporting Anders' little act of terrorism now. 

BioWare, what have you done to my beloved Dragon Age?

The grey wardens don't drink pure darkspawn blood Vinny. They mix it with lyrium and with the blood of the Archdemon.

I see my main annoyance of Dragon Age Origins is still apparent in Dragon Age 2. Just way,way too many boring combat encounters. I was cheering when they moved into a room without enemies but, of course, it just meant that there would be a ton of dwarves waiting for your return.

My tips for a future dragon age:

* not every room or hallway needs to be fought over

* make less encounters but make them way more varied and interesting

I wish instead of Dragon Age 3, Bioware would make Dragon Age: Origins II and forget that Dragon Age 2 ever happened.

Yes, do something with X-Com.
 
Maybe then people will realize, "Oh, this remake actually has nothing to do with the original. This isn't some Fallout 3 stuff. It actually is a completely different IP."

It seems to happen only on PC QL's, Don't know if it's their machine or the video itself. The console QL's look just fine for me.

I would have killed Anders but i had to leave him alive for gameplay reasons. It sucks when gameplay needs affected my story choices.

DA 2 wa a huge letdown for me, DAO is one of my favorite games this generation. I think more people should have played Origins. Instead they play just Mass Effect.  
 
Also way to reference the terrorist Anders, Brad, that is oddly fitting to the DA2 Anders.

Warrior is the most boring class in DA2. Why do you guys always pick warrior/soldier classes? Jeez! The gameplay is far more exciting than that. Vinny just sucks at it.
Say what you will but at least Vinny finished DA2 and played it for like 60 hours whereas he has been playing Witcher 1 for the past 3 months and is still in chapter 2 (20 hours in). ROFL!

I like Dragon Age 2. Vinny is at that point where he just blames the game for everything, even things he does wrong.

You want to make that kind of decision without consequences? I suppose it would kind of suck to play through the end game without a healer though.

To me, I should make that decision based off of personal choices and what I feel about the character. Not huge gameplay ramifications. The only actual thing running through my head was, I NEED MOAR HEALS HE CAN'T GO NOWHERE!

just got done playing the DLC, it was ok, it was nice to get out of kirkwall and fight different enemies but man i was reminded how much I did not care for DA 2, I wonder if they are gonna make a true expansion...
