I miss the Video Resume feature, as this new player is rad and more stable but seems to not do the resume for me so far. I'm sure this is a known issue, and it only highlights how rad the resume feature is for me.

I really wish these HD releases were for the new consoles or even for PC, they are all for the old consoles.... super lame. Yea it makes sense cause the audience is there... but I have all the new stuff and I own all the old games already on the old consoles, I don't wanna buy a new-old game on my old console when I have a new console... SADFACE! Even if the dang game looked like a 360 game, just having them run on the new thing I own (or even just PC since that's still active) would be worth it for me to have something to play on these new devices for now. They gotta know there's tons of people with PS4s and Xbox Ones that are willing to buy new old games just to have something to play on their new things. Maybe that's not enough, or maybe these remakes were in process from long ago.

If this was a lot cheaper I could maybe be convinced to hook up my 360 again to enjoy a lovely romp through Fable again.

Video games.

I've went back and watched the "Chicken Chaser" part in the beginning of this video like five times already. So good.

Damnit. Nothing makes a game look worse then controlling it poorly. This game ISNT that bad, but if you drive a Cadillac into a bunch of walls for a few minutes you can make it look bad too.

I really enjoyed Fable on the original Xbox, but I have no desire to play through it again in HD at a price point that exceeds, I dunno, 10 bucks or so.

Does Brad realize there are different kinds of XP and that him undoing Speed didn't do anything for learning Physique?

I enjoyed the Fable series overall for the most part, well 3 not so much. This brings back some memories but eh I don't really see the improvements here, doesn't seem worth getting.

Fable 1 and 2 were pretty good. Fable 3 was a fucking abomination.

I'll never understand the hate that this series is subjected to.

Perhaps the promises made were too grand for what was delivered but its not like I can't think of another game that ran out of steam before the credit roll. ahem... (Insert disappointing game here)

I've enjoyed all of the FABLE games. The second game was particularly good in spite of having one of the worst final boss showdowns EVER!

But this FABLE ANNIVERSARY crashes more often than a game of BURNOUT.

Ten years to build upon those original ideas and what we get is a $40 paint job/glitch/crash fest?

I wasn't expecting a masterpiece but this is a real bummer.

I already paid my money and I'm enjoying my time in Albion again... but... really???

This is an HD Remake?

Save your money 'til this one hits the bargain bin foks.

There are better things on the horizon.

Sh*t sorry I forgot... Brad is still SUPER TERRIBLE at games. :p

@wolfgame: You better not play Morrowind or KOTR if you think Fable has aged.

I do get tired of the phrase some people trot out for Fable in that "It over promised and under delivered" Every game is hyped upon release, its makers make extravagant claims and only a few games power through that and are something more upon launch.

Yes, Molyneux is eccentric and makes claims, but I get so fucking tired in how many people use that as a criticism of the finished game. Halo has some truly awful levels, Mario 64 has aged graphically, Morrowind's world now looks awful, does that make them bad games? Of course not.

Oh... so that's what the moderate button does - I just deleted my own comment! :D

I won't repeat all of it, just that Fable The Lost Chapters is one of my favorite games of all time.

Also, I remember breaking the difficulty by putting all my points into magic and the slowing down time spell as well as strength for my sword. It got real easy after that.

I really got into this back when it first came out. I really couldn't keep that interest up in 2 and didn't want to play 3 at all. That said the first 5 mins of this QL is probably the funniest thing I've seen in this game. Dem shirtless dudes!

This seems like a waste to me. Fable was an okay game but Fable 2 was basically a better version of the original. Nothing about this seems as good as the second one and this Unreal 3 remake to me ruins a lot of the style of the original. It had all that excessive bloom lighting that was in vogue at the end of that generation but it worked for this world. To me this version just looks ugly all around. And the poor framerate kind of kills the point of an HD remake to me. This is supposed to be the definitive version, yet the poor framerate and the bugs people have been mentioning make it seem like just playing the PC version of the original would be a more worthwhile proposition.

@wools: Couldn't disagree more, to the best of my knowledge KOTOR launched with most all of the features it promised delivering a fantastic game experience that does stand up over time, I believe an "anniversary or HD" re-release of KOTOR would be very well received, but honestly this isn't even a conversation about the games graphical capability, Fable is a mediocre under-performing rpg when compared to other games it released alongside and the many options that are available today. I stand by what I said that time hasn't done the original Fable any favors, but even at time of release it largely delivered a poor experience. It's important to separate game play and graphics, I am saying that time has been unfavorable to fable as a franchise because it has allowed more time to identify what the series promised and what we are ultimately left with. This isn't about what games have aged better than others.

I am sorry that you find it tiresome to complain about developers that make extravagant promises but fail to deliver when their game is in the hands of the people and money has changed hands, I don't find this to be a small gripe but something that we should hold them accountable too. If someone wants to release a game making outlandish guaranties about what it will be when its released that is fine, but if it fails to deliver and the players are upset I will side with the gamers over blind allegiance to game developers every time.

Super disappointed by this Anniversary edition. If you are able to play the original on the pc, do that. It looks great and the charm is still there in full effect. Also, load times!

Hmm. I might just stick with the original Xbox version of Fable Lost Chapters. Maybe when this is sub $20 I'll pick it up so I have the first three games on the 360.

The guy's face in the thumbnail is seriously freaking me out.

Also, I've never understood the appeal of Fable. Played a bunch of II and almost got hooked...but then it just never went anywhere interesting for me and I fell off in pursuit of more rewarding, well-made roleplaying and fantasy experiences.

It literally takes 15 minutes until Brad stops just mucking about doing nothing interesting or informative. And even then he just roams through the land, unfocused and without a real clue what he is or could be doing...

The most annoying thing is how he keeps talking about Fable I's look at a franchise and how it works within the basic ideas and all, how it is the epitome of the series... when 2 was just way better and he has no knowledge of it.

Yeah, Brad is pretty sure of his opinion for someone who reviewed only Fable 3, didn't come close to finishing Fable 1 from the sounds of it, and never played Fable 2.

Though it was equally funny that almost everything Vinny remembered was stuff from Fable 2, so the whole Quick Look was basically neither of them knowing very much about Fable 1.

Kind of says it all. If you liked Fable, it got really good at II. And unfortunately we are waiting for another game that good.

Picked up the trilogy on Xbox One BC for $15 over the holiday. I hadn't really played any of the Fables before (except briefly playing some of 2 when it originally came out), so when I started this version it took me a couple hours to adjust since the original game is like 15 yrs or so old now. The right stick camera control feels stiff, the mini map was confusing to me, and technically it doesn't look/run great. However, after about 2 hours I started getting a feel for it and am really enjoying it. There are some really cool ideas here and I'm looking forward to seeing how they developed in a Fable 2.
