I've been dying to get a sequel to Blackwater!

This game looks like ... a HD remix of a PS2 game converted to Wii U, but the developer only had time to take the models and HD'ify them, and left most of the textures PS2 style.

That said, I kind of want to play this.

Vice did a pretty great short doc on the suicide forest in Japan. It really is a fascinating and sad story.

Still, despite the "hur hur these cartoons sure are purty, hur" aspect of character design, the game seems to nail the atmosphere that the first few games were so good at.

Final Fantasy has never had character outfits ever even close to being that sensible.

Fatal Orbital Frame

The characters in this game are just completely nonplussed about suicide ghosts.

Is it just me or is the game audio really low or maybe the forest part has no sound.

Just the physical ghosts, the psychic ghosts are still up for grabs.

Oh, I completely agree with you. I was just saying the game is neat DESPITE the "we're all avant-garde fashion models!" character design. ;)

Suicide club?

Sorta shocking that backtracking is the sticking point for this game for many reviewers. I don't know but games like these, backtracking is something you go in expecting, always. I mean the orginal RE games were exactly that weren't they? The REmake does nothing different and people love it even more for it.

Giant robots vs. ghosts? That would actually make this game interesting.

The Xbox version of Fatal Frame 2 had a first person mode. It was pretty damn good at getting you spooked, although sometimes you'd miss out on a ghost scene because you were looking the wrong way.

That girl in the second chapter they play sounds a lot like Nikki from Huniepop

Weird, am I the only one here that saw her outfit and didn't really notice much? May be because I play JRPGs but it just seemed normal to me. I wouldn't really look twice if I saw someone wearing that. Only weird thing is it looks mildly strange from the back.

I'm glad to see that the series sticks to it's roots. It would be extremely tempting to modernize it, by making the Camera Obscura some sort of magic phone app and turn the protagonist into vapid a teenager who takes ghost selfies.

If they went in that direction the internet salt would be real.

I don't understand where the fear is supposed to be in this game. As someone who enjoys being terrified by scary games it doesn't look like the developers understand what makes something scary.

So I only watched half of this but, does @austin_walker ever realize/reveal that you can upgrade the camera from the menu? The game never mentions this major feature but he definitely had enough currency to do some major upgrades and then he spent a ton of it on film that he didn't need.

Man, her running animation is really off-putting, with that right arm flailing around madly.
