Quick Look: Lara Croft Go

The rotating menu is a throwback to the first 3 Tomb Raiders (the collectible sound is straight out of those games too).

Also, I'm really looking forward to Adam Jensen Go.

I found this game to be way easier than Hitman Go. I finished it and found everything in about an hour - hour and a half

I think SE Montreal doing Thief Go next would be pretty cool.

Looks great, cell shading needs to make a comeback.

I think I still prefer the board game look of Hitman Go over this.

I would be on board for both these ideas. Now what about a turn based Final Fantasy? That would be something different wouldn't it.

Be aware if you have a Windows Phone. When I was playing I got a ton of input lag on certain enemy-heavy stages, and it crashed about every 20 minutes. Even with that though, it was a ton of fun despite how short it was.

Looks awesome and I downloaded it, but playing games on my phone feels weird so I haven't actually booted it up yet.

Seeing this has definitely made me glad I got a $25 Google Play gift card as a parting gift from my last job. :) I like Hitman Go but found it got pretty frustrating early. This looks much more fast paced and flexible. Very much looking forward to trying it.

I'm starting to think there's some strange thing about snakes and level 6's. This at 6:36, Battletoads... and Dylan Moran in What It Is at one point says the sentence "Watch out for the snakes on level 6."

Having played all of both Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go, I think I prefer the former (it actually made my top ten list last year). The Hitman game is more devious, lasts way longer and just felt more satisfying as a puzzle experience to me.

That said, I love all the extra effort that's gone into this game. And really, they're both awesome for kinda different reasons, one being pure puzzle and one being more of an adventure tale. I know I'll be hanging for new Lara Croft Go levels like I'm still waiting for the brown paper package in Hitman Go to reveal more content (I WANT THEM NOW DAMMIT).

It's quite a bit shorter and the puzzles are way easier than Hitman GO. Also, since everything is animated you lose that board game piece aesthetic, so the movement ceases to really make sense. With all that said, you should still go buy this game. It doesn't quite reach the highs of Hitman GO, but that was also one of the best games of last year so that's not a slight against Lara Croft GO. The art and music are really great, and later in the game when you're mapping out your movement, manipulating enemy AI and dealing with pressure plates and levers all in one puzzle it's a great time. Halfway through this I was ready for Deus Ex GO. Make it happen, Square Enix.

Really atmospheric, fun, and plays very well; if a touch easier than Hitman Go, which had some diabolically hard levels. I like Lara's movement style and the game's fluidity better than Hitman Go.

I'm REALLY hoping for addition levels or missions, like what was done with Hitman Go. Hell, I'd even buy additional adventures, as it's really charming and fun to play. My only other gripe would be finding myself wanting a little more story with it. I kept wanting some backstory or context for her adventure here.

Area 51 is a level in Tomb Raider 3. I think that was my least favorite game of the original trilogy.

It's interesting that it's called Lara Croft Go and not Tomb Raider Go. I wonder if Lara Croft does better SEO than Tomb Raider, or if Lara Croft is the more valuable/recognizable of the two. Lara Croft certainly sounds more distinct than Tomb Raider.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hitman Go, especially after hearing it pronounced Hit Mango on the Bombcast.

Might give this one a go, too.

After enjoying Hitman Go a lot it is difficult to turn this Lara Croft Go offering down.

I want to encourage developers to make quality mobile games.

Real games like this are hard to find on mobile, but they are there and are good.

First thing I noticed is that the movement of Lara is perfect. Its almost exactly the same animations and stuff as like Tomb Raider 1/2 and that's such a cool touch.

I think this looks really cool but I have no desire to play it. It just made me wish for another classic TR remake like Anniversary on PS2.

There seem to be two distinct "series" of Tomb Raider going on right now. There's the big budget, triple A "Tomb Raider", and the downloadable, isometric "Lara Croft and..."

Maybe because this shares more similarity to Guardian of Light/Temple of Osiris in tone and presentation, it gets the Lara Croft moniker?

I loved Hitman Go, can't wait to try this out.

@agentoharah: Crystal Dynamics are making a concerted effort to separate out the 2013 reboot from 'classic' TR. Games set in the reboot world have Tomb Raider in the title, games set in the classic world have 'Lara Croft' in the title. This also extends to the comics and novels they're producing with Dark Horse.

I really really love this little game. It took me by surprise.

All the callbacks to the original trilogy are great. The sounds, the pauze menu, the acrobatic flip that she does sometimes when she goes up a ledge, the costumes (area 51!).

I just hope the next Tomb Raider will get back more of it's charm, and not be Uncharted 2.0. I was really dissapointed with it and felt like the story was super overrated. That seems to be just me, though.

GF begged me for this .... She loved Hitman Go and loves this even more!

Nice to see some throwbacks to when Tomb Raider games were great. I'll give you the newer isometric ones, but the latest "reboot" main franchise games are pants.

I've really been enjoying Hitman Go so it's nice to hear that Lara Croft Go is great too. This should rightly be called Tomb Raider Go though.

A Final Fantasy Go with a boardgame/miniatures aesthetic would be really neat! It would jive with that FF1-6 style of "step forward, waggle sword/staff/dragoon in the air" attack animation... oh man, that sounds like fun.

So, it's monument valley with Lara Croft basically?
