BTW Totally in love with this game, nothing out there quite like this mix of speedrun FPS platformer with cute aesthetic and awesome soundtrack by Calum Bowen (Cloudface).

I like to think his gentle "get out of town!" and "get out of here, jerk!" is how Dan trash-talks in competitive multiplayer shooters.

I'm from the UK and a purse is basically a wallet for women. I mean there are differences in design as well, but they aren't easy to quickly explain. A handbag is probably exactly what you think it is and you'd likely have a purse in your handbag, so there not the same thing.

The Wikipedia article for handbags addresses this very question. Basically Drew is right, historically there is a regional difference in meaning between the UK and US. In the UK, purse is a shortening of coinpurse and handbags were traditionally larger bags that are carried with straps to hold more than money.

Since the terms in the US became interchangeable, any resulting definitional differences are incidental. In other words, we have two words for one thing and we tend to try and make differences out of them when there sometimes aren't any originally.

Therefore the difference between purse and handbag in American English is connotative, not denotative.

Yeah, I've also felt like the game audio has been mixed too low to hear easily (or sometimes at all) for the past month or two or three. This one wasn't so bad since the music is very peppy and high-pitched, but for example, on the UPF where they played Mount Your Friends, there were a lot of references to the somber music that wasn't actually audible unless I turned my volume up so much that the commentary was uncomfortably loud

I have to chime in on this as well. Same issues here, and I think I noticed it got worse after the guys came back from E3, but I might be crazy.

Holy shit. I haven't been sold this hard on a game from a blind quicklook watch since Super Meat Boy. INSTANT PURCHASE. o__o

I've always thought the difference between a handbag and a purse was the presence of a shoulder strap. The north american purse is a large women's bag and is not synonymous with wallet unless you say something like "coin purse".

According to the game's website, there are 100 levels. 5 worlds, 20 levels each.

I've played through most of Chapter 1 now. This is my favorite game this year by a long shot. The controls are so good. And fast. It feels like Quake.

Didn't expect this game to turn into 1001 Spikes on the second world.

This game is like Super Meat Boy and VVVVVV: I die a lot but I don't get frustrated because the music is awesome.

Holy shit I can't even imagine what 5-## could be like based off what I've seen so far.

This game reminds me of a PS1/N64-era game in all the right ways. I'm definitely picking this up.

Dan's "lack of sophistication" never bothers me because he's so open about everything. Whenever someone sends an email bitching about his tastes he just kind of shrugs and says "You're probably right, whatevs". He's never dogmatic about things. Especially compared to Jeff's blanket statements about things he doesn't like.

Dan I like how you can be so positive about any game. It opens up people's minds. Things that aren't perfect can still be enjoyable.

I am naming my son "Clutch Buttwork."

Yeah, even though Dan hasn't experienced certain things, he seems very open to trying new concepts and ideas. I'd rather someone be naive and openminded than worldly and cynical. (I don't think Dan is naive, I'm just making a general statement.) Also, one can be worldy and not cynical as well.

I just got a WR on 2-15 and I wish I was recording. This game is craaazy addicting. So happy you guys ql this. Never would have known about otherwise

I think Drew is the posterboy for worldly and non-cynical.

You gotta poke around the level and try finding slightly different paths. Usually there's something you can jump over to shave seconds off your time. Don't stop for nothin. In more than a few cases, I know the way to get close to the world record, I'm just not good enough to actually follow through on it.

It's not so much gun placement as it is no on screen reticle. Makes things just a bit more tricky. I got used to it pretty quickly though. The big square bullets help a lot and you really do need to be leading your shots on anything that isn't directly in front of you anyway. :)
