Quick Look: Max: The Curse of Brotherhood

I've had a lot of fun with this game so far. It's definitely worthy of the 15 dollar price tag.

This actually looks pretty fun, nothing mind blowingly special but as a thing to kill some time whilst you wait for the Xbox to get some games... sure why not?

Oh jeez, this game looks awful.

This game does remind me of Oddworld. Enemies that kill you real quick, puzzly but still requires pulling off your moves quick.

Reminds me more of Heart of Darkness than Oddworld.

Stupid cumbersome mechanic ruins this. Imagine how much better it'd be if you just pressed a button and the kid pointed his finger at the platforms, allowing you to cycle the "hotspots," instead of that big fuckin' marker in your face alongside awkward stick controls.

First read it as "Quick Look Max" and was afraid GB had given Max Temkin the privilege of doing solo quick looks for the site.

Oh boy. Really surprised at how badly Jeff is messing up the puzzle around the 23 minute mark. I know they say it's difficult when you're also talking, but it's just so obvious.

Looks like a game that has some interesting ideas mechanically, but isn't tight enough to really deliver in a satisfying way. Shame.

I think they done that for the last two years as well, whether intentional or not. I do know that 2011 was kicked off with Case West, a 2010 release, being their first QL. And I think 2013 was... a Sleeping Dogs DLC QL?

I kinda liked how panicked the one-eyed thing looked when stuck on top of the uh, spiky turtle thing. Nice touch

Or the 3DS! You could make your character travel between the two screens with the pillars.

Also don't spite the Wii U. It's a great platform.

I forgot this was an Xbox One game until the achievement popped up.

Man. This and Halo being the first QL's of 2014 is such a disappointing start. Neither the games in the QLs or the QLs themselves were interesting in the least.

watching these two play this is sooooo painful. the solutions to these puzzles are so bloody simple yet time and again they make the same stupid mistakes......

Ha, I had actually watched that game clip it recorded on Jeff's activity (~20min mark) yesterday and wondered, "Why did he record that sequence." I look forward to this new age of context-less Quick Look previews on the console.

Looks like a nice little puzzle platformer. If it comes to PC I'll check it out.

this remendis me of heart of darkness on the ps1

I bought this to play over the Christmas break. Took me about 8 hours to complete it and I thought it was fun, personally. Nothing mind-blowing or genre-breaking, but it's a good platformer with a lot of variety. Definitely worth the price. The marker tools get pretty fun later on too, where you have to draw elaborate water streams or fling bombs at enemies.

It's times like this where I think some games should be shown after one of the crew have finished it or have a better idea as to where it goes. They could then show early levels as well as some of the more interesting stuff later on. If I'd seen this QL first I'd have probably not bought the game.

It is a lot like Limbo. Especially some of the enemies (fireflies) and the deaths. But to me that's great, because I loved Limbo.

Doesn't look that bad actually; just those movement mechanics look...untrustworthy I guess is a good term. No platformer is ever fun if I can jump and not guarantee where I'll end up on the other side

Looks decent, might pick this up since I need something to play on my xbone and ps4 since halo seems like shit.
