Having said that this game actually looks really good.  Can't wait to try the demo next week.  Playstation Plus is a waste of money.

I do not have the PS Plus package but its about time that Playstation gives something out that is meaningful and shows that they are getting behind their players like Xbox Live has. Xbox Live needs some REAL competition in order for it floor out the bugs it has and maybe Microsoft wont be so stupid next time to stop huge projects like 1 vs. 100.
 
Other than that, great video, not sure I am going to get it but it definitely looks fun.

I'm really loving the fluidity and the flow of the combat here. It seems like its hitting the sweet spot of speed for this style as if this is what might look like in a brawl if humans had supernatural powers.

MK looks soo good! I mean, it's awesome that it's gone back to MK2 sensibilities - fighting games need to be accessible because, without competition, it's just boring (Something Virtua Fighter never learned). But damn; they've really learned from, and refined a TON of what they did in the Deadly Alliance era of trying to make it into a technical, tournament-level fighter. The power bar is smart, the combo breakers from MK VS. DCU, the enhanced moves - that's all sic! And all the content, like the Challenge Tower and the Krypt, are fantastic ideas to make a single player game with longevity.    
Not to mention, visually, it's fantastic. Again, recalling MK2, but with great character models (the skeleton stuff is going above and beyond), and fantastic, responsive transitional animations. I know MK VS DCU got rid of a lot of the "canned combo" problems that Deadly Alliance and whatnot had, but this looks smoother still. So great for them.
Mortal Kombat is back man, and it seriously looks like it can stand next to Street Fighter IV in terms of, "Hey, everyone can play this yo. But you should take it seriously too, 'cuz it's got some shit to learn and MAD STUFF to unlock". This was a great Quick Look:)

I never understood the furor around this game. MK was good back when, but this doesn't look that amazing to me. Granted, I'm not a huge fighting games fan, but it still baffles me anyway.
 
I guess it's just the constant trend in the past few years of trying to bring back old games that grates on me.

Jeez. With a couple of exceptions (special thank you to Romination, who actually took the time to answer my question) all I get is angry, petulant 'YOU'RE STOOPID!' responses.
 
I even added a fucking *WINK* after my deliberate but jokey remark on American culture. I WAS JOKING. Stop getting so defensive.
 
I was genuinely interested in the societal reasons for this game being so popular. Seems to me most people responding were just angry, violent and incapable of understanding humour (UK spelling) or an inquisitive nature.

A bit of misinformation. MK games have never not sold well. They sell as well as can be expected for the size of the fighting game market. The nadir that killed Midway was the fact that nothing else they made sold.
