I am hoping that Burger King's purchase of Tim Horton's means somebody anybody on the new office staff making decisions does something about the Tim Horton's plastic coffee lid. Their lid is the worst most archaic and drip prone design ever. You are guaranteed to spill coffee on yourself using that lid. It's a travesty and they patently refuse to change it.

I was just thinking I haven't seen/heard from @vinny in a while... and @rorie actually.. .where is that guy?!

Looks fantastic, seems to play great.

In understand some features are missing, but I think this game would satisfy 90% of folks looking for a hockey game for their current gen console.

Is not being able to play your franchise's minor league games all that important?? I know review scores are pretty dumb to comment too much on but two stars for this seems a bit harsh.

@boomsnapclap113: Rare for games to end in a shootout? Like 1 in 8 games ends in a shootout looking at the standings.

@richlee: The Be A Pro mode is ruined without coaching tips, the ability to sim shifts or do anything beforehand to affect your draft. You can't play online 6v6 games. The Be A GM mode is ruined in part because of the AHL stuff - not having a system to judge your prospects is crazy and what's worse is you can't even draft the guys you want, it sims over it. A bunch of the other tidbits that were part of it and other modes like the Winter Classic and All-Star game are removed. The ability to edit or create players is gone which is big because EA is terrible at player rankings or having all the right players, let alone having the ones they have play the right position or style. Instant Replay videos are gone. Season mode is gone. Shootout mode is gone. HUT has been changed and made worse. EASHL is gone. Live the Life is gone. Be a GM connected is gone. Be an NHL pro is gone. Legends are gone. NHL 94 retro mode is gone. I mean sure, the base gameplay is fine and the 1v1 matches are fine but this is a sixty dollar release that has removed a ton of features and ruined the rest it kept. It's a massive step back for the series that they have the audacity to charge full price for because the jerseys flap around like crazy now. It's even worse on 360/PS3 where it's literally the same fucking game as NHL 14 except they changed the player's face that you see when you boot the game up. And it's also sixty dollars. It's the laziest NHL game in a long time and that's saying something for a series that for the past five or six games has basically been the same thing with an added feature, tweaked gameplay and a new terrible roster update every year. It's like they released a demo of the real game and charged sixty bucks for it, it's ridiculous.

Excited about trying NFL 16. Never really played any sports games aside from NES world cup... Those tackles or whatever, they seem like a ton of fun. Makes me want a super overdone NFL game where people get flung to hell and whatnot. Gang Beasts hockey mode anyone?

Glad to see Ray Ferraro in NHL, need more Canadian broadcasters. Too bad everything else about this is sadly lacking. The hits look nice, the stadiums look nice and the crowd looks much improved but some of the goals are weird, the jersey flap is just terrible and the missing features makes this basically an impossible sell. They took 2 and a half years to avoid this kind of mess and they still couldn't do it. Having worked for an EA outsource studio in the past that's actually kind of surprising based on workflow. Well hopefully NHL 16 is better, for now I'll just stick to 14.

@alex When simulating games in GM mode (on the new consoles) is it still slow as molasses? I tend to simulate seasons a lot in sports game when I don't feel like playing any games and the previous years simulated very, very slowly.

I wish they would do all sports QLs? Unless Danny sits in on FIFA with Jeff & Brad I don't think it will be that great. This balance of knowledge and ignorance is a lot of fun.

Well yeah really it is like Futsal on ice, and checking. Obviously soccer and hockey are the good sports that are not regular Olympian ones(even if I can never begin to care about the Olympics.)

Man that would be too good to be true. I'd buy NHL if it was like this.
