Also, Kelly Hrudey is long retired and was doing colour commentary and analysis for CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, but with all the changes currently going on in hockey broadcasting in Canada (which I haven't kept up with), I'm not sure what he'll be doing this coming season.

Well honestly, as someone that doesn't follow hockey closely, he should be shocked Jagr is stil playing. Him an Marty Brodeur are the only players left from that draft class still in active competition. Which is crazy because the 1990 draft had a crazy amount of first round players go to 500/1000 game careers.

Walked by Barclays Center the other day, saw the line for the Devils/Islanders game. So I guess that basically means I have no reason to ever go to Nassau Coliseum. They can tear it down now.

It is amazing that anyone from a Sega Genesis game is still in a pro sports league. I was sad when you could no longer find Dominik Hasek hidden on some obscure European team in NHL games.

Players have to wear things called fight straps to keep their jerseys down so that doesn't happen anymore.

@phished0ne: Oh I know. Just his reaction made me chuckle. It was like a "hey I recognize that name!" Which yeah, if you haven't paid attention to hockey you definitely wouldn't think someone would have an on ice career over 20 years.

The hawks/bruins part of the QL makes me sad. Come on Vinny!

Such a shame this is a stripped down version. I'd be happy to have a new sports game on the new consoles but if it doesn't come with plenty of modes and ways to play it wouldn't give me long term play-ability.

Loved the EA hockey games last gen, but as with most games this new generation, still waiting for that "oh wow" moment graphically. I'm sure we'll get there eventually, just still too early in the console cycle for it. I probably won't buy a new console until a few years from now.

Couldn't EA just use their EA GameFace™ tech for crowds?

That'd probably be crazy strain on the game. They have to model all the players, now you want them to model hundreds/thousands of insignificant fans?

This is not the first time @alex has shown some support for the Devils, which surprised me, as I figured NJ hockey teams are like any Philly sports team, with fanbases full of miscreants and criminals.

So disappointing. NHL has been one of the only sports games still making worthwhile changes from year to year. Looks like this'll be the first one since '10 that I won't be getting.

With that said, Go Pens.
