It's rare that a graphical style kills a game for me, but this one is in that category.

The original had a wonderful minimal style that worked really well with what they were going for. This is just hard to watch.

The game seems great, and I like the changes they made to the mechanics, but I'm still not digging this aesthetic. I think it's mostly the characters. Actually, I don't care for the color palette, either. Most of the stages are neon barf.

When I first saw screenshots of this, I thought it was the developers idea of a cheeky "90s Rude 'Tude" joke before they unveil the real game refined from the original... But that never happened, and this is what we get. To make matters worse, it seems like the animations that support this new art style make the game feel unresponsive and sluggish.

I, for one, enjoy the rad grotesque (radtesque) styyyyyyyyyyle.

Can you still do cartwheels? This is key to my purchasing the game.

I think this game looks really nice. I didn't like the initial art reveal but the character customisation and stages look great.

Already bought it but totally want to watch the Bombardiers take a... stab at this.

I still don't particularly like the new art style though. The backgrounds and colours are great but I'm not loving the characters or their animations.

Shame the online doesn't seem all that solid. That was probably the biggest problem with the original Nidhogg as well.

I adore the art style in this. Was waiting for a QL before I jumped in and bought it ... so I've just jumped in and bought it.

Never going to play this, because I'm a hermit, but I've definitely grown to like the art style. Also that music's jamming!

Still a bigger fan of Nidhogg 1's crisp art, but this looks cool too.

Just not a fan of rotating sprites and skeletal animation systems. I like the clarity of sprite work over that any day.

I don't mind the art style, but I think it looks pretty bad. The mechanical changes look really good though.

I'm glad they make games for people with friends although it looks like it would be fun to try guess I just got to live vicariously through gb

I don't get how anyone can not like this art style even if it's a departure from the minimalist from the first one. If you preferred that older style, then Nidhogg 1 is still available to you...Nidhogg 2 is an advancement on the formula with an uprezzed look.

always fun to watch the crew play Nidhogg, matches tend to get loooong, but it's fine by me. When they revealed this game, I was one of those who thought it looked bad. Now it looks good. Art being in motion helps. Probably going to pick this one up.

I love how colorful this is and I've never enjoyed watching them play nidhogg because it's such a bland looking game so this will be fun to watch them in the future.

That first match was awesome I hope they play more I like watching brsd and Jeff compete at games they are good at

How is this game not on Switch? Seems like the perfect fit: Simple controls, local multiplayer, 2D graphics. I would hella buy that.

Seeing this more in action, I don't hate the art style. The stages and the backgrounds look really neat and detailed, I just don't like how the characters look. Especially their animations. The way they run and attack just looks jarring to me.

I don't like it when things look disgusting.

I really appreciate the detailed spritework, but a lot of the design is just gross. Also not a fan of how the characters animate. Looks like each individual body part is just loosely attached to the rest.

I really really don't get how people can think the game is Ugly or Gross. Wtf are you even talking about? I don't like the character designs a ton but the backgrounds are fantastic and complaining that something is "gross" is just odd.

I feel like if the developer had not shown the game before a few months ago there would be no complaints but everyone got on the "I hate the way this looks" bandwagon and never got off even after they changed the monkey/simpson character design the game is obviously beautiful aside from the mutant player characters.

It looks like a Sega / Amiga game.

Y'know. If the character designs were a bit better, or at least had better animation, this game would looks super great. Fun to watch though, at least.

EDIT: That bow seems super cheap, having actual ammo counter would make it not as annoying possibly

Gosh, the character art and the animation system still make this impossible to read.

I could see not liking the character models, as they look sort of like "Mutant League Homer Simpson," but all the other art is pretty damn sharp and inventive. Like, come on, there's a whaling airship for Nidhoggs. That's awesome. Don't understand all the continued aversion to the art.

This game looks fucking awesome.

This game owns and so does its art.

The characters are what I'm actually paying the utmost attention to if I'm gonna play this though. If those are super bad, which I still think they are, then all the pretty backgrounds in the world don't help.

If I remember correctly in the first game with boomerang, the weapon stayed on screen so it was a bit easier to dodge. In this, since it goes off screen its just enough to make you forget about it and get hit on the way back, great tweak.

This game has so much more personality and style than the original Nidhogg to me, top to bottom. Nidhogg graphically was great from a purist standpoint but I personally find this so much better.

Remember, if it's new it's automatically worse than the one before it. ; )

Lethal League and Nidhogg were a really fun combo for me when they came out. Now I want a Lethal League 2 to come out!

The style has grown on me. Strongly considering a purchase.
