Quick Look: Pokémon Sun/Moon

Man I would've looooved to see Jeff's reaction to some of the Alola versions. He probably woulda lost it over Dugtrio's hairdo.

I was in to it until I saw the cleaning/feeding/petting mechanic. I absolutely don't want to have to keep doing that every few battles.

I love this QL and I'm excited to get into this game and hopefully finish it.

@darkshaper: Based on what was said about it's effects in the Quick Look, though, it sounds like a pretty important component, no?

I can confirm this works without issue but it's irritating: the first 45 minutes are basically unskippable cutscenes with a handful of battles, and you can't trade until you enter the first Pokemon Center.

@afterland: Thanks for the information. 45 minutes sounds like a really long time but it's worth it for the 30 or so hours I'll spend with the game..

For what it's worth; I believe experience works in such a way that, depending on the monsters your Pokemon fights, it will gain certain "bonus" points into its stats when it levels up. So essentially, a Pokemon you catch at level 10 and raise to level 30 will ALWAYS be stronger than one you catch at level 30.

Oh yeah and Rowlet has the best starting form and final evolution, and that's what matters. Though Incineroar and Brionne are pretty damn cool too.

The comments from Pokemon veterans are almost as good as the Quick Look itself.

I guess this is Pokemon then. I like the fact that looking after your Pokemon is more developed now. Lots of heavy Pokemon petting.

Haven't played a Pokemon game in forever but I might actually have to get this, if just so I can get in on some of that berry rubbing.

@riv3nt: I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I know, no, there's no downside to completely ignoring that stuff. There's minor boosts for your pokemon if you do engage with it, but I've never known it to penalize you for not doing so. Not sure where Dan got that idea from.

I think this Quick Look has shown me that Dan doesn't know about animals either.

Oh, Dan, bless your heart. We need to get you one of those pokemon type charts so you learn a few things. I am happy with how enthusiastic he is though.

I really love Jeff's undying love for Popplio.

I very much want to play this, but I'll probably wait to see if that Switch version rumour is true.

Also, I totally wore an nWo shirt and played Pokemon.

Seeing this game just reminds me how annoyed I was at Nintendo for their E3 show this year where they just rambled on about Pokémon for like an hour when I was waiting to see the new Zelda.
