damn the only thing i have against this is the lack of the full 50 chieves.

When I played this I would always aim for the foot or the knee (whichever one dropped them to their knees) and then go for the autokill suplex. I was suplexing everyone and saving a ton of ammo.

This game was something special. I never replay a game after beating it but I beat this game like five times back when it came out.

The worst part about the yellow herb thing is you can just select literally any item in the inventory, click "Examine", and it tells you its EXACT gameplay functionality.

My biggest problem with this version on PS3 is that Square and X have been changed...so X is now run and Square is action/shoot. Still taking me a little time to get used to.

Other than that, loving it. Looks great, has Separate Ways/Assignment Ada, super-quick loading times.

Man this quick look filled me with nostalgia! It also reminded me of how awesome this game was and still is, oh and that how much I am OCD over my case and it made me crazy how messy Brads case was. And dude Brad head shots!

WHAAAT are you talking about? The scopes are worth neither the money nor the inventory space they require.

Both rifles have a built-in scope of around maybe 2.5x or 3x, and that's absolutely all you ever need in this game; the game areas just aren't very big. If you press whatever the zoom button is on your controller of choice, the rifles still zoom in even without a scope added on. You can still easily get headshots in even the largest areas of the game, such as the cable car sequence near the very end of the Village act of the game. Try it sometime.

I think the add-on scopes increase the zoom to something ridiculously unnecessary like 4x or 5x, which only helps if you're determined to make sure all your headshots hit the guy in the right eyebrow. Using any scope other than the mandatory thermal scope seems like a beginner's mistake to me, so I'm quite glad Brad didn't buy it (though I imagine that was complete chance).

The graphics look worse than the gamecube version...

Those 2 lines totally redeemed what was otherwise a Quick Look of Brad mistaking one puzzle for a completely different one (the puzzle by the church) and confidently dismissing Vinny's correct advice (props to Vinny for also remembering the boulder), and Brad generally giving the impression that he maybe finished the game once, given that he sold a treasure he hadn't put gems in, and didn't point out a whole lot of neat little touches, like preventing the pendant from getting dirty, shooting the lantern in the cave tunnel to reveal sparkling gems embedded in the wall you can pick up, killing crows for money/minor items and shooting bird nests for minor items/treasure, and the fact that if a crate does contain a snake, you can kill that snake before/after he damages you and they drop an egg/brown egg/golden egg.

I didn't play it at the time, so I don't fully appreciate its genre-defining mechanics within the fabric of spacetime, but I played it two years back and while it was competent, I didn't find it to be all that special.

Bah, I want to play this again, preferably on the 360 but the price is a bit high for me. I think the Wii version can be picked up for peanuts at this point.

@RobertOrri: This early in the game nothing pops out of their heads. Aside from that, the Plagas can pop out of their heads no matter where you shoot them. Hell, you can knife them while they're on the ground and have a Plagas pop out.

Also, watching Brad play this was incredibly painful. Not because he was bad at the game or anything, just because I've played the game so many times it's tough to watch someone play and not do everything exactly right. Want to save ammo? Shoot em in the legs and knife dat ass. Don't drop the pocket watches into the water. Stop walking past treasure. So many rage inducing mistakes.

This made me think of that part in FFX where you are fighting sin on the boat, now I want to play that game again.

@Vitor: Yeah, it definitely doesn't make any sense that you're allowed to add a scope onto a gun that already has a scope, nor do the descriptions for the rifles mention they already have built-in scopes, but I always assumed it was something most people stumbled upon by the end of their 1st or 2nd playthrough.

Are people still upset about how they play games during Quick looks? Anyhoo, I love this game. I really, really LOVE it. And now I'll have to buy it... *sigh* too bad it doesn't have the 50 achievements.

I love Brad to death, but hearing him talk about stuff in game sometimes just makes me laugh. Sometimes I feel as if he is biologically driven to pull a Brad with the decisions he makes.

With this being $10 on PSN(For Plus folks), I'm going to buy it when I get home.

O my fucking God. Now I know how people who've played through Persona 4 felt watching Jeff and Vinny do fusing. Who in their right mind buys the first rifle and upgrades the first shotgun?! That first pistol you get is the best pistol because its exclusive upgrade is amazingly powerful. Man that was frustrating to watch :p

I'm glad this game is around but I'll stick with my Wii Version for now.

I can understand why this game had remained important, but I'll never want to play much of it. Every time I try, I just remember how much of an abortion it is to control and how the only interesting part of the initial village (which is awesome). It amazes me that 5 got as much praise as it did for retaining the heinously bad controls as 4.

I can't go without saying this:

Brad, you suck at this game. I haven't played RE4 since 2008, but jesus fucking christ; you don't aim for the head with the handgun, you aim for the kneecap then melee them. Only go for gun-kills when you are using high-power weapons.

Those creatures...I forget what they're called...the ones that are dark grey, humanoid, and really tall, and make that incredibly unsettling grunting noise as they shuffle around.

They scared the shit out of me the first time I played this game.

So I got past the part where he walked away from the merchant, and then i realized i was about to watch Brad play a resident evil game, and had to turn it off. Good showcase of the HDness of it though.

I remember playing this on PS2. Great game. Eventually beat it on professional mode. I think I died around 130 times. Damn quick time events.

Still wanting to go back and play Mercenaries mode and get that handcannon.

I played this game to death on the Gamecube. Ever since I saw gameplay footage I wanted it. It was one of the few games I have purchased at full price.

Man this game was probably so cool when it came out I played it later in 2008 and I liked it for a while but then it just gets repetitive in that house and I had to stop playing it. What do you guys like about it so much?

@Pop: It's a cool-ass game about shooting stuff in a B-Horror Movie setting.

Never played RE4 and feel like I'm missing out. In fact, I've haven't played Resident Evil since Nemesis and have never completed a game in the franchise.
