Reminds me of Progear by Cave. Which means it's going to be amazing.

I thought the Latin was cool, then I realised it was a furry bullet hell game. Fuck that.

Same thought ocurred to me, then I shook the furry aspect and realized the story probably had it's own take on the characters...simply unique than furry. Take it for the internet to find the LCD of the shaman on the wall ( neolithic cave painting of a shaman, part deer, bear I think, and human)

Everything they're saying about the story reminds of Tactics Ogre: LUCT on PSP. It was completely rewritten for that re-release, and it had some really slick Shakespearean-influenced English that made the delivery of almost every line a joy. Plus, it throws around names and factions like candy, referring to things that might require an honest look-up in the game's Warren Report, and it's dark as hell, with plenty of backstabbing, betrayal, assassinations, and deaths as nations vie for power or preservation.

Also, those menus are GORGEOUS.

looks pretty fun, but I'm super bad at these games. And really dig the atmosphere but looks too hard, I would get so frustrated.

Those achievements consisting of multiple objectives are a pretty smart way of doing more with the limited amount of gamerscore. Fits a game like this.

Also: was pretty good at this game.

It still baffles me when Brad raps on a game for only being one and a half hours long when he loved LIMBO so much. I love the art in this game, and it seems way more feature rich than LIMBO, or Journey for the same price. For $15 there really shouldn't be any focus on the length of the game just how good that game is in it's genre.

Hungarian and Finnish are interesting in that they are closely related to each other but not to any other major language spoken in Europe. Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Czech, Serbian, Greek, and even languages spoken as far east as Iran and India are all part of the Indo-European family, while Hungarian and Finnish are in the Uralic family and not known to be closely related to any other major language group on earth (though some linguists have some theories). If they "sound like" some French mixed with some Russian, it's because of borrowed words, not because of a shared evolution.

I signed up just to make that comment. Hope you like it. Also, Basque is another language spoken in Europe but not closely related to other European languages, and not closely related to Hungarian or Finnish either.

Man... I wish all these touchy subjects (like genocide, patricide and rape) had been addressed in a game with a larger scope rather than what amounts to a bullet hell shooter. Still, the game looks fun to play, so I guess that's all that really matters.

"From the moment we are born, we begin to die"

Bang! I'm on board. Can't play shooters for crap, but give me some intense, Baid style skewed self-reflection with a grim-ass story and I'll play any genre.

I'm a total layman when it comes to Latin, but I love how friggin heavy and evocative the language seems to be.

Alright, now I am also trying to figure out where the weak spot on that train is. I've done that boss about half a dozen times, and still can't find it. If you figure it out @Brad (or anyone else), you let me know! The internet has turned up no information as of yet, but the game is fairly new, so it's understandable.

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out!

@flanker22: you can turn it off. That was pretty much the first thing I did in the options menu.

The game is great by the way. Controls are a bit too sensitive with a pad. I've yet to try it with my TE stick, hopefully it's a bit better.

Their confusion over whether the game actually uses Hungarian reminds me of the confusion in the Magicka Quick Look where they thought it might actually be Swedish that was being spoken in the game.

Haha I had that exact thought, this would probably make for one awesome but incredibly depressing animated series. Seems kind of odd a side scrolling shooter of all things would get so much story and creative vision behind its setting etc.

Well, it sounds like Grasshopper Manufacture handled most of the stuff other than gameplay. If they handled the writing, this game begins to make sense to me, because the tone reminds me of Killer7, at least in terms of "future full of weird socio-political problems, also horrific acts of violence happen to people".

This is the best shoot'em up available for the Xbox. Can't believe the Japanese can't even dominate THAT genre anymore.

More than borrowed words, there are phrases that are exactly alike. Ki ez/Qui es("who is this" Hungarian/French). There are one or two more that I've heard, but I can't remember what they were and my French is sadly now gone.
