PT was amazing. I've never heard anything like that scream it drew out of my own mouth (and I'm usually not a sucker for horror games).

Patrick did a great job with this Spookin/QL.

@wintermute: Let's see you play this game in a dark room with a headset on and see if you don't react the same. It did the same thing to me and I don't normally react like that to this kind of stuff. Seriously, do it.

Until then, you sound like a fucking entitled baby with zero social skills. "Wah, I'm paying you money so that gives me a reason to criticize you and call you out for faking." Seriously, if you paying money is the impetus for this, just unsubscribe and save us all from your shitposts. Bad form.

I did play P.T.(before watching Patrick's play-through), in the dark, on a good sound system and I did not react the way Patrick did. And, I don't think you read my post very carefully. My message was that Patrick should not try to convince me his reactions are genuine(as he attempted to do) and that he should do spookin' with scoops however he chooses without regard to my status as a paying member because I get my moneys worth without needing to watch spookin' with scoops. I expressed an honest opinion(admittedly with some snark) and made a suggestion to Patrick that I think would improve the overall quality of the site's content, both for myself and others(with no mention of money). Whether it influences the way Patrick produces content or has no effect at all is not a big deal in the end. Also, I might recommend watching/reading some of what Patrick has to say about toxic conduct on the internet. You might find it enlightening.

@spacecouncil: it doesnt make watching this any more enjoyable. I hate games that deduce down to a pixel hunt, its just annoying. Eventually I just fast forwarded through most of this. At first I thought this was creepy, and it looks great, but I hate cryptic shit. I hope Silent Hills is more fun to play than this, it just looked boring and reminded me of Lucius. Yuck.

Does anyone actually say "Nine Eleven" when referring to 911? I've never heard that before.

It stuck out to me as well. I've never heard the emergency number referred to as "nine eleven". I don't know where you're from, but as an American, I've only ever heard "nine one one" as nine eleven is always in reference to the twin towers attack.

Anyway, I'll echo the sentiment that this is an awfully gorgeous looking game that really had me disturbed until it became The Stanley Parable, but creepy. It sort of loses some of it's sting if you're just roaming around with nothing happening. Obscure triggers can be really irritating to deal with.

Also, I got a kick out of Patrick's screen going black when the ghost lady pulled the door close. He must of gone back to watch it as it's the image he used for the video thumbnail.

I really need to sub again soon, I've missed scoopin with scoops.

Klip Klop should play more games like this and less like Fatal Frame, which is incredibly overrated.

I wish there were more games as terrifying as P.T. Send me some suggestions!

That car light in the background at 11:35 or so made me think someone was sneaking up on Patrick to surprise him.

Man, I would have loved to have seen that.

given the latest podcast, it would be interesting to see what Jeff experiences when he plays something like this. I tend to agree with him when he says scary things are stupid, but this only applied for films and books to me.

Scary films are terrible and I, personally, have never ever been scared in any film ever. I also haven't been scared in any game ever but given what games can be, I am open to games eventually being the true medium for horror entertainment. Jeff should really do something like this, if only once.

Fuck I can't believe Patrick's monitor went dark when he zoomed in on the crack in the door! Talk about bad timing.

Either way awesome demo thing and awesome quick look.

Graphically that hallway is amazing. The horror tropes are the usual stuff but when it looks graphically that good, it's really something.

To me the main thing that freaked me out in this video was the talking bag. It's not that it was disgusting or scary but the things it was saying to the main character has some fucked up implications to it. It's like it was a version of the player character from a parallel dimension who got so fed up with the hallway that he removed his brain and vocal chords and put it in a bag just to warn his other selves about the pocket dimension. I could be reading into it too much. Not a lot of things freak me out in games or movies nowadays but this video caught me off guard. Thanks again for the Quick Look Scoops. Keep on spookin'.

@patrickklepek DVI cables/connectors don't carry audio signals!

HDMI and DVI are the same/very nearly the same except one carries audio and the other one doesn't!

Downloaded it, watched the quick look and then deleted it without playing it. I know Jeff mocked it in a recent podcast but I side with Brad on this one: a game's atmosphere can get in your head and I don't need some neck snapping ghost lady hanging around my thoughts when I try and go to sleep.

Also, late as I may be saying it, Thanks for posting this for free members too! It was a great surprise!

@patrickklepek thank you for doing these videos. I would have turned it off after the second go through that hallway. It was great to be able to still experience this "game". I've watch some other people play on videos but you are by far the only one that I connected with.

Finally got around to watching this, and as soon as I got to the bit with the talking bag, I started thinking about Kobo Abe's book, Kangaroo Notebook, and the game's similarities thematically to the book. Not to mention, it is proclaimed by Kojima to be the main inspiration for Metal Gear Solid 2. It was the bag's speech that reminded me of the ending passage from the book, which I've spoiler tagged in case anyone wants to read it, it's wonderful:

On the front of it was a peephole. An opening the size of a mail slot.
I peeked out. I saw myself from behind. That self was peeking out of a peephole too .
He seemed terrified.
I was as terrified as he seemed.
It was dreadful.

The book then closes with a supposed excerpt from a newspaper article on the death on the protagonist, which seemed similar to the radio stuff in P.T. Perhaps I'm looking into it too much, but I can definitely still see it's influence rubbing off on Kojima's work.
