Quick Look: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

This might be my moment to finally go back to SFV. I have a ton of fun with it when I actually do play, but the lack of features early on definitely made me drop it almost completely.

Was that an impossible Raging Demon on reaction to Jason whiffing a move? The A.I. seemed to just activate it, and I didn't see a jab or anything.

Love fighting game anything on the site. It's sort of relaxing watching Jeff and Jason (and sometimes others) duke it out. Done with a, nay, scientific precision one would say...

Holy shit, this is the first time I saw her in SFV and there's something wrong with her face.

Also, there's nothing more awesome than buying a new edition of a game and seeing a bunch of stages and costumes for sale. I thought new editions meant that they bundle that stuff? There's literally just as many free stages as ones you need to pay for on that select screen.

Did anyone immediately notice that the first match (Nash v Sakura) was running at 30FPS, but all the rest of the matches were running at 60FPS? I'm not going crazy, right!?

The Arcade mode is really fun and clearly has room to expand with updates. Trying to clear the games without losing is pretty challenging especially on hard mode where you can get the most points and place high on the leader boards. This is the game they should've came out with in the beginning, everything else is also done well, they even fixed Ken's look... and SAKURA!

Bought season pass 3 glad that after 2 years SFV is finally a complete game. Hate that SP2 is still $20 though would’ve loved some kind of discount pricing especially since I own Akuma and pass 1. IDK I’ll never not feel ripped off for buying it at launch and having to pay $50 to feel somewhat sassyfied

That female character at the beginning threw me off when I noticed that they seem to have done nothing under her skirt so when it fans up its just Barbie doll-esque... It just looks, and seems, really weird to me...

The airplane stage being banned in competition is definitely because it was making certain players motion sick.

@janman: Is it me or did the game audio suddenly go up a bunch during that Halloween stage match? Seems like it's overpowering the voices a bit after that.

@lionheart1982: They are making it harder than ever to earn it in AE. An easier than ever to spend it like that Extra Battle stuff. That's not good.

I have the original Street Fighter V. I left because of the "beta" / "early access" nature. Is Arcade edition a free upgrade, or DLC, or a whole new download?

@dutch726 the new V Triggers, Arcade Mode, Extra Battle and menus are free. You still have to pay for the characters if you haven't purchased them.

Do the AI opponents in that "history mode" where you can play through old arcade modes,.... Do they just stand there and let you punch them?

Yeah dude, playing this game is still super fun but all the costume and stage and extra battle stuff really puts me off. Gotta actively ignore the stink of it all.

And after playing that DBF beta hoo boy does this feel slow. Again, it's still fun though, and still super pretty. It stays installed for now lol.

Got deflated on Arcade Edition in a night. Continuing my feelings of "I guess I like this game". I can't shrug hard enough if someone asked me if this game is good

Did they fix the beach stage water yet? A modder on PC fixed it after a day, seems like it's still tournament banned on consoles... oh Capcom.

I loved how this played and preferred it over 4, but the way progression worked without spending extra money was super skeevy and made me feel bad. The fact they still haven't changed it doesn't give me hopes for the future.

The way the Extra Battle mode works is that you receive the preferred reward the first time around, the gem or title, etc. And if you then proceed to complete it a second time, you get XP or fight money or whatever it is. It is EXTREMELY poorly worded, so I totally get your confusion.

Also, I'm on TV! Just when I got deranked from diamond, too.

Extra Battle is fucking bullshit especially since they removed getting FM in story mode, trials and survival.

Also, im pretty sure this is not coming out on arcades. The cabinets that Taito showed were just for an event.

AE is a good content update. The balance changes and new gameplay modes are pretty neat!

I wish they would post this in 60fps.

Edit: Weird, it's fine after the first fight.

The character is not a Duck King ripoff. The character's name is TwoP and he's one of the thugs you constantly beat up in the original Final Fight, which existed years before Fatal Fury. If anything, Duck King is a ripoff of him. Jeff should've known this, but he was likely just joking.

That Ken hair that Jeff was so against reminds me of Brad's slick back hair doo he sported for a while.

So this is the Arcade Mode everyone wanted? It looks so trash, the AI is so awful in Street Fighter, especially in V. That its precisely no fun to fight it. Look at how it doesn't even fight back until it just gets cheap.

Pretty crazy how such a glaring character issue has still not been fixed.

I guess you could fix it with some green benjamins and get short hair.

That frame meter seems real useful. The one missing thing that would complete it for me is if they listed how long each attack takes in the movelist That would let you theorize some good combo's up front. I'm sure that stuff is widely available, but it would be nice to have that in the game without having to test it all or read up on external material.

Hey, it's this fucking garbage game...again...

The stage select screen constantly showing stages that can be purchased would drive me nuts, especially since it looks like at least half of them are purchasable.
