I'm very curious to see what the in-game commentary from David, James and Maximilian is like, I imagine it's like the Persona stuff.

Some parts of this seem real rough. Especially the UI, jeez. Overlapping text, cryptic dev-console type jargon... hopefully you can have fun with this thing despite it all.

That's a classic text adventure from Sierra. Probably prepared for UPF or something.

There's something about Jason's voice or the way he talks that bothers me for some reason.
I don't have a problem with him beyond that, so I don't actually dislike the guy. It makes me feel silly, having such an irrational issue with him.

This seems like it appeals to the fighting game equivalent of grognards. Not a knock against it by any means.

This is very much a japanese indie made game. Lots of rough edges (especially UI), but really nice art and gameplay.

I backed it during the IndieGoGo campaign and have played it a bit off and on. I like the core game but the menus are a nightmare to navigate or do anything in, was hoping that was just the alpha/beta but seeing it in the full game isn't making me want to jump back in and give it another shot, especially with Skullgirls PS4 and Predator hitting today...

I'm all for new 2d fighting games, but i don't get the purpose of crappy resolutions for "artistic" reasons. I hate the look of up-scaled games like this, c'mon it's 2015.

I think generally, if you have an irrational dislike of a person or something about said person its probably best to keep it to yourself, if its irrational nothing can be done to fix it so nothing good comes from pointing it out.

Game looks fun shame about the bootleg wrapper.

Don't know why Jason says the online doesn't work, working perfectly for me right now. just leave your ip as localhost (the default).

Glad to see another crowdfunding project get a full release.

I do understand and echo Jeff and Jason's sentiment that none of the characters seem particularly interesting to me though. The game just look very appealing.

The gameplay is great, which is ultimately what matters. Also, a bunch of other stuff like GGPO support is still coming. They just wanted what they had out there, it'll be supported for a long time.

This is looking really cool.The use of famous FGC personalities is kinda weird but I like it.

I wish GB had some sort of podcast/show talking about the FGC - especially the tournaments that seem to happen weekly around the world. Much of the same pro gamers seem to show up for these tournaments - and there's so many colorful personalities.

I think it's weird that there's a character in there that I recognize from Salty Bet.

@kunoh: I think UltraChenTV does a good job of that already (so check that out if you haven't), and there aren't enough people on GB staff that care about the FGC for that to make sense.

Sometimes you also need to change the system locale to see japanese text. You can change that from the region settings (with some global side effects), or use applications like applocale or locale emulator to run the specific program.

True. Also, on the topic of this game: the nips on Girl Hanzo show that this is truly Anime-Accurate.

I really like the fighting engine, but maaaaaaan does this look rough otherwise. Also it sucks they couldnt get Chris Matrix or Yipes over Maximillian, but overall the whole concept/system kind of sucks anyway.

Great music, great sprites, cool character designs, but goddamn they need scaling/filters, widescreen, some stages look like trash while some are amazing, the story mode presentation needs serious work(would probably be better off just using sprites rather than gigantic portraits), just prune out the shit. The in-game commentary is nice but should not be on by default, the game would be better served by not highlighting something so odd and mugen-esque. And boy oh boy, those menus. Why is arcade there twice? Why not name one Story????? It makes no goddamn sense. lol

I think it's because he has such a low tone of voice that he kind of sounds bored (to me at least) when he talks, even when talking about something that gets him good and hype.

Other than that minor quibble, yeah, Jason is a really cool dude. The voice just adds to his mystique, really.

I've been following the development of this game, the commentary system has always been silly and kind of bad but you can turn it off so that's good, other than that this quick look pretty much sums it up.
One other thing to mention is that GGPO was a stretch goal but they needed more time to implement it, so they released the game with the old system, i don't know if GGPO will come with a better interface for online matches but i'm guessing not.

The sprites and animations are really good in terms of detail, the game itself seems rather sub-par.

@oursin_360: The sprites don't look like they do for artistic reasons. It was originally meant to only be released on a handheld (the vita?), but then they ran the indiegogo and it was successful enough for them change scale but not enough for them to redo all the art and animation. It still sucks and that's a perfectly valid complaint, but that was my understanding of the reason behind it looking the way it does.

I wish the fireballs and some other effects were pixelated to be cohesive with the character sprites. Their smoothness sticks out like a sore thumb.

Looking forward to getting my hands on this when I got the time to leave SF4 and Skullgirls. The quality does seem a bit inconsistent though. But hell yeah I'm down for some bootleg Third Strike!
