Is it worth holding off on playing this until it's out of early access? I've dabbled, but don't want to burn out on it. It seems pretty great.

"ooouuu I have made mistakes."

Basement streams. Amazing content. Can this please be a regular thing? No mater what game, it's enjoyable. I'd even be okay listening to Vinny read a book.

Also: that truck looks ridiculously similar to a Zamboni haha.

Great stream Vinny :)

Has Vinny ever shown off his Transformers collection on screen? Seeing those guys in the background here is making me mad jealous, especially that Ultra Magnus. All I got is a Masterpiece Starscream and Masterpiece Prowl.

@spoodie: I have the same question. From this video, the game looks full-featured enough to play right now, but I still think I'll wait until release.

Once again, happy to see some ad-hoc content. You don't need the Studio prep to get something on my screen.

I'm still hoping to play Satisfactory sometime - but as much as I want Steam to see competition the Exclusivity Deal stuff still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Compete on service not on artificial restrictions.

Had fun watching Vinny and his awesome alpha- & beta- factories!

I played this a lot, when it was put on early access, but as of yet I haven't returned to it. I had a similar oil transportation problem. My solution was to transport the oil to the base & do the production there. I made platform+ slope isles & felt like a boss, when the conveyor belts actually reached my base.

Hopefully Vinny's game doesn't get boned by Update 3, though at least it's only on Experiemental right away. May want to start saving backups, I suppose.

Could have Brad/Alex/Abby join your game and help you build your infrastructure on stream...? Building those remote oil sites involves a lot of ferrying resources to build the conveyor belts, power, etc, so even if they were just acting as mules for extra inventory space, it would speed things up a lot for you, and it'd give you someone to chat with.

@armcommander: @spoodie: I've played a bunch. There's a lot to do, but I think you'll do fine waiting. The worlds are all hand-made (exploring them is an important part of the loop!) so restarting as new updates drop means that you'll be milling about in the same places.

I love these streams, too bad I always seem to miss out on them when they are live.

Also funny how I was thinking about going back to playing this, just to have Vinny do it :)
Played through all of the content for this when it went into EA, at first glance it doesn't look like too much has changed, tho those vertical belts sure seem handy.

Some advice on oil exploitation: Oil gives you pretty much unlimited fuel, combined with fuel generators that's unlimited power.

This also means automated transport routes for trucks become viable, which is a pretty handy way to get that crude from the oil fields to your base. Just need to scout a proper route for the truck and maybe have to build a couple of ramps in places.

I personally enjoyed that much more than trying to build massive straight roads for conveyor belts. It's also a handy way to get around the map: Just jump on top of one of your automated trucks and let the AI drive you to an outpost.

After the first unfinished, and subsequent playdate, with this game, I immediately went and got it. I am not an early access guy, but something about this game really got me. This game got me to get an Epic account and install the launcher. I am about 80 hours in on my first factory...still loving it. Major patch 3 comes out tomorrow, I believe. Love that Vinny is coming back to this. Hopefully, he will come back again in the future when its officially out, whenever that will be!

This comment has nothing to with this video.

I was just listening to Jean Baudin.... That awesome bassist from way back on Giant Bomb.

And I was thinking... it would so awesome to see the Big Live Live Show Live make a comeback, but with everyone that was ever a Giant Bomb or OG Gamespot person of any kind.

Hey Vinny! I faced a similar problem getting that same oil back to base, and what I ended up doing was building a road south over the water, avoiding all the hills and monsters. Then, later, after I got trains working, that road was a perfect place to put the tracks on. Cheers!

Anyone else intimidated by games like these? I thought Factorio looked rad, but I figured it'd be too much for me. I was curious about this one, too, but I'm still not sure.

I think Vinny overstates the learning curve of this game. I'm 200+ hours into this so far and never once had to resort to tutorials or online guides. In fact, I'd actually recommend against doing that, as it lets you come up with your own designs and solutions, and it allows the game to unfold in front you gradually.

It's probably one of those cases where going online and looking at everything all at once makes the game seem way more intimidating than it actually is to just play it. The progression system is very paint-by-numbers and tutorializes through how it reveals resources, items, buildings, and principles so you're never really overwhelmed with too many new things. In the beginning the resources you're harvesting are close by, easy to access, and simple to utilize, and as you progress, more stuff is layered on top.

The negative aspects of the game would be that it's not balanced in several key ways between the mid-game stuff and the current end-game stuff -- several components of the game are unlimited and/or overpowered, leading to later components being redundant. Examples: oil/fuel power vs nuclear power, conveyor belts vs vehicles/trains, etc. The survival element also feels pretty redundant, as you have the ability to build free-floating walkways that completely bypasses anything that's threatening. I don't think I've had to do more than a few corpse runs over the entire time I've played.

This reminds me so much of Astroneer, but with just the one planet. What's the end game/point of the game other than building stuff to build other stuff. Is there a subnautica style plot or goal?

Soooo much to unpack here and I have only watched 30 seconds of the video :)

First of all.... I see you have a original HeroQuest game sitting there on the shelf in the back.... one of my all time favorite boards games (guess I just painted an "im that old" target one me". Also what is up with that CRT monitor and floppy disk drive sitting back there? Starting up a museum or something? :)

Either way, love Satisfactory and would love to see more Vinny streams of Xcom or Satisfactory.

Have you looked at "Transport Fever 2", and what are your thoughts?

When Vinny reached the oil and I realized he didn't have fuel generators unlocked. Oh no! That was the easiest way to power when I got to oil, just brought the ingredients and let the refinery power itself.

@bizarrohash: I know what you mean about it being intimidating, I felt the same way but it starts off slowly and holding your hand and builds up so it is quite satisfying and nothing ever gets on top of you. The fact that you can deconstruct things without penalty help a lot too. :) I love it. I'm just past where Vinny is up to in this vid.
