Dave Lang, always hilarious (and clearly god-like).

Hate to break it to you though, I had discovered Bat-Tech already. But I did not come up with such an amazing name, so I'll stick with the story that the scientists in the Lang Zone figured it out first. I don't want to get dragged away for being a Communist or something.

Does anyone know how the relationship between Mr. Lang and the Giant Bomb crew began? Were they acquaintances back in the Gamespot days?

Thanks Patrick for allowing this to happen on the site. Dave, Max and you had me laughing pretty hard at moments. The bat-tech and Matlock bits were great.

If Dave Lang made a series of self help tapes, I think it'd go a lot like this:

Holy shit, Dave Lang has kids?

Not that I've done painstaking research on the guy, but after watching like all of the Divekick Esports Hours, and a bunch of his Extra Life stream, and never hearing him mention any sort of family, wife, or kids, I was kinda going on the assumption that he was just super dedicated to his career with maybe a girlfriend on the side or something.

Dave Lang's always welcomed, insane commentary and Max's laugh more then make up for a lot of the horrible things that keep happening. (e.g. forgetting the "Mattlock" or blowing yourself up for no reason whatsoever)

@dorkymohr: I can confirm that I ABSOLUTELY tried it after this video. (Nailed it once and died doing it a different time, haha. I am not yet a Bat-Tech Master.)

The 3rd shortcut to the template where you need to bring the key to the tunnel man, I did it on my first try. I was so happy.

You can't go wrong with more Lang in your life.

Patrick, what happened today? You made some really bad decisions. Leaving a shotgun and mattock? Wah?

Proof bombs do not break projectiles. Diagonally above a bomb is the worst place to be. This is what nailed @patrickklepek around 24:00:

Oh god, having Dave Lang makes this already enjoyable feature much more so. dat bat tech

For anyone looking to try the patented "Bat-tech", know that Dave is correct in that the backswing of the whip has a higher vertical hitbox. It actually lets you jump-whip some things you might not ordinarily be able to as well as being a safer combat move against certain foes. But if you're whipping for horizontal distance, remember that the front-whip is still your friend.

Yo Patrick, quick tip re: sticky bombs. If you put two down on the same bit of ground (with like, half a second between placing them), the second will fall straight down after the first one explodes.

It's really useful for those bits where you've got a shopkeeper under you and there's only 1 or 2 blocks between you. You can get the second bomb to fall pretty precisely. Helps a lot with the Ankh shop in the Black Market

I started playing Spelunky again last night and I cannot believe that Bat-Tech works so well. Now I can't not use it. Completely changed my Spelunky game. Goddammit, Dave Lang.

@patrickklepek I've skipped a few videos; have you messed around with the staff of Anubis yet?

On one of the first videos, I mentioned that you should get the ankh because it's hella crazy and you'll end up killing yourself in hilarious ways. Turns out I meant the staff of Anubis. I take a couple months break from Spelunky and now I'm some kind of scrub what can't tell the difference between the ankh and the staff.

But yeah, get it. Favorite thing in the game. Easiest way I've found to kill Anubis is to make him follow you into one of the tiki spike things and wait for him to die. Or if you're good with sticky bombs, go Master Chief on his ass.

Can't wait for Spelunky Kombat Arena to hit Evo this year.

Dude--- COLUMBO is the best old school detective show of all time. I own the entire series and its never get sick of it. At least the original 5 or 6 seasons. Its goes down hill slightly in the 80's and falls off a cliff in the 90's. I think the stories were written by hacks at that point, but Columbo is still owns every scene he is in.

Sorry.....with all the Matlock and Murder She Wrote, talk, I had to give props to the best character ever portrayed by a one eyed man in an old rain coat.

Bat-Tech is a sham says I. I think it's best to face your problems head on.

Also a mook like Dave would hate the camera, but apparently it can kill lots of monsters (like BATS!)
