Did devs ever say what inspired the music in this game? It sounds like it could be a lot of different things.

@patrickklepek You don't seem to be aware, but you have to touch the blood of the enemies you've killed in order for it to fill the kapala. Killing enemies alone doesn't necessarily do it.

I say this because you were killing a lot of enemies with the shotgun, and frequently they were too far away for you to harvest their precious, precious blood.

EDIT: I paused the video to post this, any immediately after I hit play again Patrick says "Oh, you have to collect the blood." So yeah, I'm that guy today who posted the dumb thing without watching the whole video first.

You should never have angered that shopkeeper.

I got mega kitted out, (Spending all my monies on that early jetpack) but kept getting in altercations. Richest I've ever been in the jungle... where I died.

Are the boxes random(er)? I didn't get paste when I cleared out that level. I really could have used some paste.

This game is sick. It's all about dragging these lost girls and dogs deeper into caverns, for them to never be seen again.

@budwyzer: The only logical conclusion is that the player is taking them to Tunnel Man, the human (and dog) trafficker.

That damn damsel above the two mines in the cave. I figured I'd get clever and set off a mine then jetpack up to safety. I failed miserably.

I got impatient as the tiki would not activate as I was standing there.

Patrick, seriously duder, when you see a dazed shopkeep you should just unload on him. Also, you should sacrifice all bodies and enemies that take multiple hits. Your runs would've gone easy-peasy if you had gotten to the point where every sacrifice gives you 8 health.

Patrick is definitely showing improvement with each stream. As well as slowly but steadily making me want to get into Spelunky.

If there's something Spelunky has taught me, it's to always triple tap.

You had sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many bombs. Stop giving a fuck. Like you just had to bomb that part of the dude and then chuck bombs down there. Same with the part where the Ankh was, don't let your guard down until the music stops.

Kind of would wish that he only did the daily. 40min is a little much when it's a daily video thing.

That's probably where this feature is headed eventually. The warm-ups are for experimentation.

Maybe he'll get there eventually. I was all about the Daily Challenge and only the Daily and had some of my best scores and made it pretty far mostly because of that. Practice runs would just wear me down and make me impatient when I got to the actual daily.

But now I've been playing more than just the Daily. Last week I made it my goal to get the Speedlunky achievement by beating the game in less than 8 minutes and I barely scraped by. I've started doing some runs after the daily now when I can because I really want to beat Yama. Closest I've been is during the Daily Challenges though.

Wow, he really choked kind of badly on that run - it was going so well up to that point. He needs to learn how to swoop down just enough to trigger the shopkeeper - who often will kill himself by jumping into spikes or something.

If you're going to anger the shopkeepers, a good strategy is to always come at the exits from above. Even if that means bombing. Easier to just drop in and leave. Post black market, you should be pretty loaded with bombs.

Other than that, I think you're really on a good footing to improve your game.

@tmthomsen: It means "Point of Sale," a lot of digitally managed cash registers work off of a POS type system, McDonalds and Walgreens (Places I've worked at) both do. They're sort of shells that fit over the traditional OS and refit it for use as a cash register machine. (Most systems I've seen still use XP, though some use 7)

Nice job blasting those shopkeeps in the Black Market, pretty impressive. I think you woulda totally beat Olmec, making it there with all those bombs. Surprised you didn't throw any down there to take out the shotgun-wielding maniac who defeated you, but hey, mistakes will be made in Spelunky.

I love this feature. Definitely gonna have to try some Spelunkin'.

But...

When Patrick mentioned possibly streaming some Banner Saga, I was stoked. That game looks great, but I know I'll never delve into it.

Pleases do something with Banner Saga. These long form videos are what I live for!

oh man he had so many flippin bombs. He should have bombed his way through the Temple. I love this feature keep it up!!!!

Something I'd suggest is you need about 8 to 10 bombs in order to beat Olmec the coward's (or the sane man's) way and Olmec's chamber likely will have a bomb bag or two at least, so 6 or so going into his chamber should be fine... if you aren't unlucky. 10 if you want to play it safe. So if you have more than 15 bombs in the temple use a couple to blast your way through each level. If you have as many as you had you shouldn't even bother messing with traps or enemies, just throw bombs until everything blows up.

Otherwise great job! Kinda putting me to shame, it took me months to finally get to be about as good as you are. Though I really didn't start trying until I unlocked all the shortcuts and then realized "wait a minute... fuck shortcuts! I can beat this game without them!"

I would try to avoid killing shopkeepers in the mines unless they have a jetpack you can't afford. They tend to be the most hassle in the mines

Fuck all shopkeepers. I kill every one on sight. Learn how to kill an unsuspecting one with just the whip and his own shotgun and you'll be set.

@patrickklepek I know you're still learning the game and aren't necessarily going for massive leaderboard busting runs, but killing those shopkeepers is the gateway to breaking the game wide open. Honestly, it doesn't really matter what they have in the shop; never spend a cent on anything. Getting used to the techniques necessary to kill unaware shopkeepers without any offensive items (you can whip the gun out of their hands before they shoot you, pick it up and dust them if you're quick enough) will fundamentally alter the way you look at the game.

You're making great progress, and you don't necessarily need to do any of the above to beat Olmec (or even Hell, really), but if you want to change that hashtag to #humilatedchrisremo, and prime yourself for posting scores near a million or more, it's something to keep in mind.

Olmec also becomes a wimp when you have more bombs than a loaded B-52, fyi. :D

We use ShopKeep POS at my work place and that image makes me feel uncomfortable.
