Man, I miss Spelunkin' with Scoops.

I was hoping this would come back for this occasion.

Having played Spelunky on Vita, PS3 and PS4 now I can say without question that Vita has the best D-pad of the 3. Which is weird. It's also better than the Xbox 360 d-pad.

If such a good D-pad can be made on Vita, why can't other platforms do as well?

That final death was so good. I've missed watching these.

It made me so nervous watching him jump around without throwing up a rope for safety. Those types of deaths capture the essence of Spelunky though.

I've been holding onto this game. Or maybe it's been holding onto me. It's a part of the daily routine!

Glad to see this back. I have to say, Patrick, as someone who has no interest in horror games I hope you'll jump back on the roguelike train for a regular or semi-regular feature in the future. I really enjoy watching you play these types of games.

Playing this for the first time on the PS4 and I'm really loving it. Great controls, short and addictive rounds, and tons of weird new stuff to always stumble onto. I never really played much of the "retro" indie games that have been coming out (Hotline Miami being the only exception) and this game has put a bit of a hunger for those in me. I guess Shovel Night is next on my list.

One thing that I wasn't expecting at all is that the PS4 version took in my save from the PS3 version. I'm not sure how it did either, because I'm pretty sure I didn't have cloud saves activated on my PS3. But it had all my unlocked characters, it had my stats (over 300 deaths, 0 successes), and the damsel set to the dog. Must be a server side thing, I guess.

Anyway, the game is still fun, maybe I can finally beat Olmec.

FYI the pro hud is available in the PS4 version, you just have to switch to it.

Spelunkin With Scoops was my favorite GB feature. I used to wake up every morning with coffee and the spelunky stream. Good times...

I could see that last death developing as it happened. I asked out loud, "What are you doing, Patrick?"

@natto: Me too - he could have safely just tossed bombs from the top of off the little ledge he had on the side since he had the baseball glove too!

It also helps if you make the hole wide enough from the top-down, rather than bottom up, haha.

I'm watching this feature on the condition that I will not let watching a new episode of Spelunkin with Scoops entice me into playing more Spelunky!

Happy to have one more Spelunkin' With Scoops! That final death was something. I thought you got it all back over the course of that daily challenge, but in the end you literally dug your own grave.

Forgot how much I loved this feature. Great stuff. And with my PSPlus acccount, I guess I'll give it a go, too.

So happy to see this back even if it's just a one time video. Spelunkin' with Scoops one of the all time greatest features on this site - top 5 for me. A rusty Patrick is exactly how I play Spelunky after a long lay-off - Just say "I know this game, I got this." Then run everywhere and die very quickly.

Spelunkin' with Scoops remains one of my favorite features the site's ever done. Nice to see it come back, even if only for a one off.

I didn't realise until I watched this just how much I've missed both watching (and playing) the Daily Challenge. Oh man. I should get back on that train.
