Aw man trashing Star Fox Assault. I really enjoyed the story because it made it felt more Space Opera-y but I the out of ship gameplay wasn't very great

This N64 stream just warmed my heart.

The second PS2 Castlevania Curse of Darkness is very much Castlevania. It´s very similar in structure to the 2D GBA and DS games only it lacks any verticality or basically any feature that really takes advantage of it being in 3D. It feels very flat as a result, but has some of the same satisfaction as the 2D ones when it comes to the simple pleasures of getting new stuff or grinding to upgrade spells or whatever. It´s not terrible and, while not a high bar, it´s probably my favorite 3D Castlevania.

I never played Star Fox growing up but their continued appearences in Smash Bros has endeared them to me. I really wish that the franchise could get a cool new game, and boy did I try to like Star Fox Zero but that games writing was so incredibly run-of-the-mill and the gameplay was a mix of not that interesting, and overly annoying to control.

I feel like Rorie would like Pokemon more if it was a Ubisoft shooter

@hippie_genocide: I was just giving a cheap alternative not something I would use personally hell I still own a tube tv for my old systems so they look just fine to me and if I want HD quality I just load Dolphin and would pay a lot for the things you mentioned I just cant see buying this thing for it to only work on 1 system

Space Station Silicon Valley is one of my favorite games, full stop.

I have immense nostalgia for Pokemon Stadium's minigames. Like, i can still remember all of them and I have no idea why they're so burned into my brain.

There's also a distinct lack of Mario Party 64. Cowards!

@djredbat: Those converters are typically very low quality. If you're wanting to play an N64 in 2019 on a modern hdtv, I would assume you would want it to be pixel perfect, or as close to that as possible. There's a reason why things like the Super 64, RetroTink, and Framemeister cost as much as they do.

Man Star Fox 64 was badass. I used to play through it every day after school.

You can wall jump in Mario 64, but you have to kick the wall instead of pressing jump again.

I read the title as "Super Mario 64 Super Stream" and got super fucking excited for 2+hours of SM64... then I reread the title and got bummed. :(

Also you can see the menu in the reflection over Brad's shoulder and it looks like it could be 64drive, not Everdrive.

It kills me that they didn't use the warp in bob omb batlefield.

@brad is correct about Space Station Silicon Valley's studio turning into Rockstar North. I believe this was the first notable game that Leslie Benzies was the lead programmer on.

Starfox 64 is pretty good.

Pokemon stadium that released 20 years ago has better animations than the upcoming ones.

Shout out to Jan for getting clean audio. That demo of the raw output of the sound was nasty.

Our big game at get togethers was Turok 2 Deathmatch all raptors or 3v1 raptors vs one guy with grenades. It was dumb and hilarious.

@djredbat: But those converters are really shitty for 240p content and it's still composite video only which means a lot of added video noise. I'd say the best thing to get is the RetroTink 2x, it can take S-Video which is what this Eon box in the video takes.

Love you Rorie but you are one weird bloke. The whole point of this device is to get better video to your TV easily, not the filter button.

Then again Brad only explains it once and with Rorie you need to explain things more than once and be sure he's looking you in the eyes when you do.

Why pay $150 for 1 console when you can get an RCA to HDMI converter upscaler for around $30 and be able to hook up multiple consoles

I'm probably one of the few people who really doesn't care for Star Fox 64. The soundtrack sucks and I think it was a major mistake to move away from the garblespeak of the first one. The voice acting is repetitive and obnoxious.

To me, Mario 64 is the best game ever made. I'd be fine playing it for the rest of my life, it's timeless.

I enjoyed this very chill stream. The N64 was a console I skipped, so my primary exposure to it consists of Nitro Rad videos. It's nice to see the games live and hear memories from those who played through the era.

I feel like they're being a bit too flippant at the start of the video. Many newish hdtv's don't even have inputs for composite or S-video, and if they do the image quality would be terrible and introduce a lot of input lag. This thing's main feature is upscaling the resolution to 480p and outputting over hdmi, not the "slick button" or whatever they're calling it. For those that have large retro collections it's nice to be able to streamline your setup and not be required to own an older CRT just to play your old consoles.
