when i had the PSN hooked up while BB was on, I could stand behind where they spawned in, then did them wrong as they came in.

BB's pvp isn't...that well done.

edit: Jan found out the boss has STANDO POWAH

Sorry I had to miss the finale, but congratulations on usurping the Moon Presence, Jan. Don't wrack your brain trying to understand everything; it requires a little suspension of disbelief. If it helps, think of the whole thing as happening in a bubble beyond the infantile reach of time and space.

In any case, thanks for sharing your impressive journey through a game that has a reputation for chewing up players and spitting them out for not being skilled, masochistic, and/or persistent enough.

Was the framerate always this bad on this game or is it just because I'm used to 120fps?

Get that red siren light out.

As this series goes out, just want to shout out this OST one last time.

Bloodborne was the first From game in this style that really grabbed me. Jan, if you want to play more, Dark Souls III was a really good progression from here. And I don't mean for streaming, but for your own enjoyment. The earlier ones are just a bit too clunky to appreciate without the nostalgia, imo (curious what they do with the feel of the Demon's Souls remake). Sekiro rules, but it's no joke.

Anyway, gg.

Congratulations! It was so awesome watching you play this!

You should feel free to dive into the lore, as it's actually really interesting, but I'll tell you up front; it won't answer all of your questions. Part of what makes From games so alluring, is that a lot is left up to interpretation.

If you end up trying Sekiro next, we'd love to watch you play it as well. It's a fantastic game, even faster and more intense than Bloodborne.

The actual Souls games are amazing as well; slower and more tactical/ methodical so really it would depend what you're in the mood for if you want to play a From game.

Thanks again Jan, this was rad.

congrats Jan. I had given up on beating this game but then seeing you beat Paarl made me pick it back up. I even switched from Kirkhammer to Ludwig to channel Yumyum and it worked. I beat it a few weeks back and now congrats again on getting the best ending |o_

Great series - had a ton of fun watching Jans trials and tribulations.

I think what exemplifies this as one of the best GB series since Lockdown is how well Jan handled the community. He knew when to interact, when to take advice and ask for it and when to tell chat to chill. All around great job!

Also personally I like the "bad" ending the best, how you slowly walk through the town as the sun comes up in the morning. I know the bad repercussions of what this symbolizes but the imagery is far better than the ultimate Slug Life finale.

Does anyone else think Mergo's Wet Nurse is the easiest boss in Bloodborne (other than Celestial Emissary)?

One interesting thing about completing Bloodborne is being able to compare notes on who found what boss the easiest/hardest and discovering the vast range of answers depending on peoples character build, weapon choice and playstyle. I found The One Reborn (and ol’ Celestial M) easiest and Laurence the First Flailing Lava Bastard by far the hardest.

The thing about Mergo's is that most people are kind of over-leveled by the time they get to it, especially if they did the DLC first like Jan did (and like I did on my playthrough). Even if you didn't do the DLC, if you did the other optional bosses you're still going to be more heavily leveled than someone who did a straight-up main path playthrough.

Jan, this was very cool. I tried to play this game a few years ago and never made it past Cleric Beast. I commend you for sticking it out and getting through this on stream, in spite of how frustrating it must have felt as a host to be on the same boss for a whole episode or more at times. I found the struggle and eventual victories really enjoyable to watch and be a part of in the live chats.

Soulsbornes are really not for me - I admire them from a distance because I just don't have the patience for the difficulty or obtuse stories. But I love Sekiro a lot, and hope you consider tackling it next.

On going to be the contrarian here, and argue that you should not play Sekiro. I know everyone and their brother is recommending it, but I think it is easily one of the worst games I've played in the last year or so. It's extremely rigid in how it wants you to play, but does an exceptionally bad job of teaching the player about how it expects them to approach that rigidity. Also, I think you would find the environments and enemies extremely boring, especially after Bloodborne.

If you want a fast-paced Souls-like, go for Nioh or Nioh 2. Those look better, play better, and are vastly more interesting mechanically.

However, if you do decide to play Sekiro, I highly recommend not using stealth outside of the few circumstances that require it. Stealthing stuff may sound cool and even feel good in spots, but doing it also means you are not practicing the parrying and dodging, which will leave you woefully under-prepared for the boss fights. When I tried a second time to get into Sekiro after falling off the first time, I just decided to go in guns blazing and ended up having a better time. Not a good time, mind you, but a better time,

@therealturk: For all the talk that he NEEEDS something fast-paced yadda yadda play sekiro. I agree that he'd be better off enjoying lore-based fun and just doing dark souls up to dark souls 3. Hell have a good time now that he has patterns and feel of harder games down. Sekiro already has been beaten by someone on site who was great at explaining why it was good come goty. Ben. These souls games never get a fair shake cause difficulty and length and methodical gameplay feeling clunky to uninitiated on the site. It would be nice to have it discussed come goty for once by someone besides the few who force themselves through popular games not so in the GB wheelhouse like witcher 3 was. I expect goty this year will be talk of tons of games the crew got into during cov so much so i hope they include a best games you played during cov list. or something. Otherwise Goty is already settled with instant wins and a lack of new games. Goty = 2077, ghost of tushima, mario, doom eternal, animal crossing, Last of us 2, ori, warzone, ff7, halflife, etc.

If he really NEEEDED to play fast paced he wouldnt be playing souls like games. Fast paced, tight controls, etc, he would be on Bayonetta, transformers devastation, devil may cry 5, etc. He wants souls and souls at its heart is dark souls 1-3.

Came here to recommend this video. It (and some of Vaati's other BB lore vids) really put the game into perspective in a really cool way.

And also Congrats, Jan! This series has been a good watch. Thanks a bunch!
