Dan does not seem interested in this series anymore. This is a major blow to the series because it makes his episodes frustrating to watch and the other two have to deal with the results of his recklessness.

@cagliostro88: I usually move a sniper first (I always go in with 2) because I know that I wouldn't be able to shoot with them after moving anyway. It's probably a bad tactic, but I've done it since my first playthrough and it's worked out for my play style.

It seems to me that Dan actually doesn’t want to play.

He rushes through the missions as quick as possible; then doesn’t engage with any of the base building/upgrading.

@bisonhero: yes, the hiatus made him forget how to not play like a complete drunk egocentric baboon. And I say that with love for the kid.

Playing long war at the moment and it is so savage. So it makes me twitch watching Dan’s high risk low reward plays. I agree that this episode seemed rushed but it’s probably just a busy week. I am sure the next one will be better. Exquisite Corps for lyfe!

Note to @danryckert: Don't put Bianca in the game. It will end badly. See: This episode.

@schurik: +1. I've always been kind of bummed how Dan's impressions of XCOM 2 seemed to sort of salted interest for the larger staff, when I really think it's a head and shoulders evolution of the game (they can, of course, form their own impressions and I'm sure that's just from the outside it seems that way, but still).

If Dan was reviewing a video game that he thought was mediocre, I doubt he'd give it an inflated score because he knew the developers were rushed for time. This was a bad episode, making excuses for it doesn't change that.

Yes, the circumstances behind a project don't change the end quality of it. But knowing the why behind things will lead to better constructive criticism and potentially a better show. Also, isn't it just more interesting to know the why? And this isn't even your English class BS looking for meaning in everything. It is just the fact that they have dealt with odd snow the past few weeks, got hit again. and had a jam packed recording day.

Hey guys. I know the weather has been uncooperative, and I appreciate your strive to get everything done. But I think this one suffered with your push to get everything finished. Better luck next week.

I know people are complaining that Dan doesn't seem interested anymore and I'd mostly agree it's not his sort of game and he's bored now of X-Com. But.. I'd say be pleased GB East actually creates decent content to watch because the West have been hashing out boring Unprofessional Fridays for months now with Ben just falling asleep on the sofa.. or talking over people's opinions and that's premium content.. wish the guys out on the West coast would create some new features as good as 13 Deadly Sims, Mario Sunshine, Abby's Halloween playthroughs etc..

Just based on the play times it seems like Alex is the only one that wants to play this. At least at this point.

This is a pretty protracted series, and I'm not sure if Giantbomb has ever experienced the point when a series goes on too long for it's players. Well, maybe it has. Both Persona 4 and Deadly Premonition seemed to make them really want to just be done with it by the last 5 episodes (or so) of each.

It's just an interesting thing I noticed. Especially interesting to me given how game Dan is (or at least was?) for doing Endurance Runs.

@bluubeetle: vanilla XCOM 2 was slightly broken in terms of balance and less than adequately helpful to new players when it came to understanding how to prioritise with resource allocation. It has improved over the years and much in the same way Enemy Unknown was improved by Enemy Within, XCOM 2 has been hugely improved by War of the Fallen. I think War of the Fallen is the best among the modern XCOMs for sure.

Give Dan some credit about things though. He turned right around on Destiny, so he might turn around on XCOM 2 since it has been updated and improved also.

@ames: oh shit yeah... I forgot about fishing village. No offense intended to Dan or Abby but if the Exquisite Corps are going to survive that mission they're going to need an Alex playstyle... and even then... I predict casualties!

@extintor: While I definitely agree that War of the Chosen has made XCOM 2 the definitive XCOM, I personally feel like it blew out an already superior game.

XCOM 2 was definitely harder (I think that the "standard" difficulty of XCOM 2 is really more akin to the "hard" difficulty of XCOM 2, but for me that indicates an improvement in balance; XCOM 1 could be really easily breezed through on just standard after taking one or two not overly long stabs at it), but I don't think the new things that it asked you to learn through the course of a few runs were more obscured than what the original asked of the new player.

I do definitely hope Dan comes around on XCOM 2 though! For me, I just think that it was indeed a better game that his playstyle just never really made him interested in learning (Which is totally fine! But I think at times he just communicated that it was universally inferior, which I pretty heartily disagree with). All that said, I fully admit that this is all subjective, that it's definitely a rad game now and you're right; I think the crew would be pretty darn into it if they gave it a second run.

It's such a shame that he won't be coming back. Who would have thought that Commander Rykert would turn out to be a traitor and was unceremoniously dismissed right after this was filmed. No one really knows where he ended up but it should be a reminder that there are turncoats everywhere and that one must always be on their guard.

It is said that when he was taken into custody, as he was taken out of the X-COM base, a lone snipers shot was heard in the distance. And then he was gone.

"Making excuses" was a poor way for me to phrase my response, so apologies to @dannyglover (love you in Lethal Weapon). What I should have said was that even though they were apparently very busy, I don't think that negatively impacted this episode, other than it being posted a bit later than normal. It wasn't that much shorter than most of Dan's episodes, and Dan pretty much played like he plays. A lot of people have posted comments in this thread and the previous ones about that, some constructive and others not so constructive. All of it has mostly been laughed off by Dan in the following episodes as part of the bit he's doing, which seems like a trolley type of humor that just feeds more into the non constructive feedback, and I haven't been a fan of it So I didn't bother to go into it deeper in my first post other than to say "episode bad." Overall though, I do appreciate Dan and what the GBEeast staff do, even if the Exquisite Corp Dan isn't for me.

Dan just doesn't give a shit and it's awful. If he doesn't like the feature pass off the playing duties to Vinny. He hands all the kills to "himself" doesn't listen to a word alex or vinny say ever. This is a team feature and Dan is all about me me me never stopping to even think while he is playing this game.

Dan is making this a miserable watch and destroying the feature. He doesn't even want to THINK while playing this he just wants to click and push buttons while talking about how great he is.

It's like watching trump post a tweet.
