This is already incredible and I'm not even ten minutes in. Dan's whole shower story was really something else.

My second Visceral Hot Take is my 'mind theater' of what EA is thinking:

'....If we are going to make a single player story based game, using THIS very lucrative and very visible francine was a poor choice. If there was one franchise that would be useful for a game that players return to again and again, with heavy engagement, it should be Star Wars. If there is a game to leverage for profitability with heavy engagement, that would be Star Wars. Yes, we did have a thought to do a story game with the franchise, but we view that as a poor choice in retrospect. That does not necessarily mean single player narrative games are dead for us; but what it does mean, is we will not use Star Wars for such projects.'

Yes, that sucks mostly because it closes a studio that has had hard knocks in the past few years. It sucks that some people won't be carried over into other studios. Moreover, I would love to see a Amy Hennig lead single player narrative adventure game. However, I don't need that Amy Hennig game to be Star Wars. If I really sit back my mind whispers, "Amy is TOO GOOD for such a thematically shallow franchise that requires Disney oversight."

Star War is not those first three movies for teh 70s and 80s. Star War is Jar Jar Binks, a dead Han Solo, and the emo grandson of Darth Vader. Star Wars is one movie per year....every year with a Mcdonald's tie-in. Star Wars in heavily edited, heavily sanitized, and heavily leveraged for profitability in all aspects. Those thing above do not make it terrible or worthless, but it certainly doesn't make it useful for making deep games with thoughtful narrative with shades of grey.

Shadow of War does not really turn into much of a grind or get much more complex than "Tell this orc to murder that orc while I kill another one" but if you are burned out of the loop in act 1 it's best to just put that shit down cause it doesn't really have any new ones to go through later.

When I was walking out to bat in the first proper cricket game I'd played (I'd have been 13 or 14 playing in a mainly adult team), the batsman who I was replacing reached down into his pants and pulled out his cup.

"You'll need this, son" he said.

Not wanting to appear to be a greenhorn I nodded sagely and shoved it down my own trousers, not realising that it really had to go inside, well, inside my briefs.

A few minutes later it had slipped down one leg and had become an uncomfortable knee pad, behind the pads I had already strapped on over my trousers.

Long story short - I did need this, and still wince when I think about it.

Just a minor correction for @alex in the comments. Visceral used to be called EA Redwood Shores. Once Dead Space became the hit it was they rebranded as Visceral. They didn't sell their studio to EA but I get what you mean.

I've played baseball and soccer for most of my childhood. I've never wore a cup and also never got hit too badly in the nuts while playing.

Every chocolate bar mixes sweet and salty. So does every soft drink and chip brand. It sounds weird but it works.

In the opening minutes I had one thought on my mind:

Bakalar did a good job hosting all things considered. To me it's not quite a legit Beastcast without both Vinny and Alex and their impeccable chemistry. Thanks as always duders.

@y2kbug77: Can confirm - we used the term 'racked' growing up in Colorado to describe those nutty scenarios. Maybe it's just a thing in that part of the country. Haven't heard it used in a while, actually.

If Dan like the new South Park's tactical gameplay, he should give Original Sin 2 a go. That game is tactical as heck where you have to manage different status effects and is never dull.

Original Sin 2 definitely has two of those and I would not be the least bit shocked to find the third if you looked hard enough.
