I had a conversation with Rich Gallup at PAX one year and he did not believe I looked old enough to have been watching and listening to this and On The Spot.

I listened to every HotSpot episode from the very first (in Summer of 2005, while I was at the beach, covering the San Andreas "Hot Coffee" incident) to Vinny's exit sometime in 2008. You have no idea how happy this makes me!!!

I miss Carrie the most. She, Jeff, Bob, and Rich had a great rapport. I also miss old Hotspot voicemails. They had an innocent/public access TV quality where a decent amount were earnest questions or comments. Towards the end people were trying really hard to get on, but there was a magical window where they were pure.

I would be really interested to hear from some of the old GS people, not just Rich. I would love to hear from Ryan MacDonald about the whole drone kerfuffle, for example.

Someone tell Jeff Launchbox is an amazing frontend for RetroArch in desktop/list mode. Game descriptions, genre, developer and publisher info. You can sort by release date. You can see a description of some crazy ass Japanese pc-engine cdrom game and learn something new. It's pretty great.

Hell yeah. I've really missed the cross coastal folks mingling. A couple times a year was never enough and even GOTY discussions were their own thing.

After all this time "Too Hot" is still a banger.

I like to think that, somewhere out there, a very confused Rich Gallup stood up for the duration of this filming.

And just like that, 2020 got a little less terrible.

I wonder how well 3DO long boxes would fit side by side in a vinyl storage box.

I love this SO much. Hearing that theme song takes me right back to memories of when I discovered podcasts and was originally listening to this show back in my first ever job and around that era.

Also, just to speak to the actual format, I absolutely love this. Even if you put aside the Gamespot aspect this is the solid core of GB that has been around since those first weeks, and it makes me indescribably happy just listening to y'all talk shop. I could listen to hours and hours of this stuff, no problem.

Would be rad if you could get Rich in (or indeed any of the old GS crew who might be up for it - Carrie, Greg, R.Mac, Kevin, whoever you got). But also I'd just take more of Brad, Jeff, and Vinny hanging out and shooting the breeze. That's more than enough for me.
