Kid Chameleon is GREAT! As a kid, that game just seemed endless.

And it seems appropriate that after Kabuki Quantum Fighter, I got my backer code to Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for all my hair-whipping needs. (it's fantastic fun, by the way!)

I've been saying this for over 20 years now, on this site and others, Kid Chameleon is the greatest game of all time.

Also, Kabuki Quantum Fighters just looks and plays very similar to Sunsoft's Batman: Short punches, animation priority seems the same, item wheel to make up for shitty punches, moving low platforms that get faster when they notice you. Hell, even the color palete of the first level is similar.

I tried to watch this live but that Beam streaming site was terrible. Constant choppy stuttering on 720p and had to buffer a bunch on 480p but at least it was smooth in between the buffering. Total garbage. At least I can watch it now.

Same problem for me. I saw a notification pop up that said "Try switching to the Flash player for better performance!" and I shut it off.

There are a bunch of sound effects in RoboCop vs Terminator that sound like they were lifted straight out of the Jumpman games on C64.

Those Titus games were not good. I remember having a whole bunch of them for dos at some point.

Oh and of course they later went on to make Superman 64.

I don't know who keeps mentioning One Must Fall, but I'm with you. I'm sure we'll see some science sooner or later =)

Also, Kabuki Quantum Fighter gave me a strange Faxanadu vibe near the start there.

The title is Kato Chan & Ken Chan. It's based on a Japanese sitcom in the 80s. It's not a bad game if you understand the references.

Man, Krusty's Super Fun House seems like a pretty mediocre game, but really, really like the way it looks. The backgrounds are boring, but something about that Krusty sprite really does it for me.

Yes, Kabuki Quantum Fighter! I've never met anybody else that actually played that game, and it was one of the few I had for the NES at one point so I played the crap out of it.

Oh shit I remember playing so much Keith Courage (in Alpha Zones). Such an interesting mix of the weird/cute part exploring towns and then dark/weird going into the caves as that mech warrior thing.

General Chaos is an absolutely fantastic 2 player co-op vs ai game. You only have to control 2 soldiers which is much easier than single player 5 at once and you can do some pretty good tactics. Also it has a pause trick which allows you to cheese enemies with explosives.

I thought Jeff was going to turn off Blues Brothers way before he actually did, but it was comedy gold.

I love the slideshow window of just classic box art. Looking back I think I'd rather have gotten more into comics than games because so many times that cool box art betrays the awfulness of some older games. I remember being disappointed by Kid Chameleon as a child, one of my earliest wake up calls to do a little more research before getting a game outright. Thanks for being such a nice guy Jeff. I can't even imagine how hard it is to commute for 2 hours to work just to make content for us ingrates when you could be working from the comfort of your home. Keep up the good work.

I love these streams but damn, Jeff seems to give the Amiga short shrift every time. It had the same CPU as a Genesis, the same performance in 32 color mode, and way better music thanks to the MOD format. It's probably petty, but that machine had it all for me.

That said, Robocop vs Terminator does look like some janky Amiga game, which is weird as it wasn't released on it. It looks kinda like Navy SEALS reskinned though.

I haven't finished watching this, but Alien 3 for Genesis had some of the best music. I used to go to the sound test screen just to listen to that shit.

I didn't have too many Genesis games as a kid. :\

Oh man I never knew there were different versions/ports of Krusty's Super Fun House. I guess that's not really a big surprise. I only played the SNES version as a kid and I feel like that's the superior version because it has better sound design, like a padlock noise when you finish a level and it becomes locked, a krusty voice sample when you get hit, and an actual sound when you jump. Also I just like the sound effects more in general on the SNES version.

Jeff kept teasing us with picking up his cat but never delivered.

Anyway, watching him play old games is one of my favorite things. I also think I found the way those grenades worked in RoboCop Versus the Terminator far funnier than I should have. I couldn't stop cracking up.

Blues Brothers NES. Man... I don't know or care if there's an AVGN episode for Blues Brothers, but it seems like the developers made it specifically for that purpose.

I'm sure I played that Robocop game on the ... Spectrum? Maybe it was a port of the arcade game, can't remember now.

I remember it being well received, too. Slim pickings in the Speccy's later years.

Yeah, lots of the enemies are pretty much 1 to 1 for enemies in those Batman games. The rolling things, the enemies that shoot fire or whatever, are right out of those games.

Perhaps put the box art for the game you're playing in the bottom right corner?
