He has said in previous football QLs he is just now getting into football. He isn't an expert, you have to start somewhere, I think you guys may just be critical of him because you are harboring the preconceived notion that getting a new member of the staff with different tastes, strengths, and weaknesses is a bad thing. I felt the same way toward Brad for a long time when he first joined.

The hate or dislike is kinda crazy, but I understand a bit of it. Sometimes I wish I could mute his mic, you don't have to comment on EVERYTHING. All in all though, he's a great addition to the site, his articles are pretty good, and not everyone can be as chill as the others. Also, not everyone can make an asshole lovable (Ryan Davis).

This is a prime example of why Patrick should be news only. He ruins every video he is in on the site. His news work is great but that's it.

I noticed this too. There are some vicious people on this site!

That comes with the territory. GB has been growing alot and its no longer the tight knit community it once was. Whit the rapidly expanding community there are bound to be assholes who just like to talk shit about the crew.

I've been folIowing GB since the Arrow Pointing Down Podcast and was a big fan on Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, Brad, Matt(Boss of Bosses) and Alex back in the GS days. I myself love what Patricks brought to the site. He is one of the best videogame news guys on the internet and his articles speak for them selves about how broad his knowlage and insight into the business is. And it's great thet he has different taste in games aswell since it brings a broader perspectiv on all games covered by the site.

Also, It's a site about videogames. Don't take it so damn seriously.

I think Patrick said 2-3 football comments in the 35 minutes I have been watching. The Tim Tebow comment wasn't even a big deal, I swear some of you guys get mad the second anybody talks about anything that is reasonably popular. yeah, I read a few comments before watching and was a little worried Patrick was going overboard, but seriously he's acting like everyone else. I seriously don't understand what these people are talking about Patrick has never annoyed me. But I guess I'm just an adult and I don't flip out on people...

Come on guys, there's tens of thousands of people on this site, the odds of everyone loving every staff member are astronomical. You don't have to get so god damn defensive every time someone says something critical of a staff member. Yeah, some people use overly strong words, but who the fuck cares? Just let it be. If you like every staff member, good for you.

One has to wonder why Jeff is able to review this game, it's clear that it won't get a 5 star review and I doubt even a 4 star review.

While 'scores and stuff don't matter' it seems Jeff is too close to the subject matter to properly do a review justice.

I actually think this TNT is the perfect reason as to why he can't do it justice too. All throughout Jeff was trying his 'NFL Blitz Arcade' tactics and consistently failing in them, hell the first guy beats him to the line the exact same way about 5 times and Jeff still did nothing to try and negate the tactics.

It just seems that while Jeff wants this to be the exact same game that was on the Arcade system that he already has...it's clear that it's not. Are the things that were taken out/added really that big of a deal to change the thoughts on the fundamentals of this title? Or is Jeff just pissed because he can't perfectly exploit play 'X' every time to smash his opponents? To me it seems like Jeff wants less true tactics and more exploits, or is that just me?

Also jumping in on the staff hate/love.

Patrick to me is palatable, but he definitely seems to have the more grating personality of the lot. It's more in the way he's always playing the 'troll' than anything. I don't really always like the way he takes what someone is saying and attempts to finish the sentence for them either, as he often doesn't really seem to be finishing it right but the person he's finishing it for just doesn't want to be like "uhhh, no". But apart from that I can stand him.

Personally I dislike Alex the most of the GB/WM crew, I just dislike his whole "I AM SAYING A MEME AND WILL SAY IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER" (See the Serious Sam 3 QL) and trying to throw in a joke with nearly every sentence instead of letting it flow.

Vinny=Perfect is a train I can get on though. ;)

amen brothers, i myself been with the community since gamespot, arrowpointing down, and when giantbomb was just a blog, and yea the community is not as strong anymore, or to the very least the vocal troll minority is very strong on GB

Someone that is not fanatical about a series as Jeff is could easily have been chosen. Patrick himself said that he'd played NFL Blitz in the past...hell, I'm sure even the resident sports game review writer Alex would have some Blitz pasts too.

Facts are, if you're too close to a gaming series or game then you're likely going to have forms of bias or unrealistic expectations when reviewing a new form of that series. Such that it might be a detriment to the review process.

At the end of the first game Jeff says the one pass is why he lost. Wouldn't the not learning how the other guy plays, with him always running the ball every time he lines up the one play also be a big reason for the loss? Every touchdown came that way but the one, which was still a quarterback run.

And then in the second game the guy does the same thing to get some big yardage on Jeff which helped him win.

And then, well then it was fumbles and interceptions which Jeff really had no control over.

All I want to know is, why is Tebow throwing right handed? That is kinda big

No I love Patrick, I liked him since he started. I know its his first year watching football and I could see a safety being rare so he wouldn't know what it is. But yeah I don't get all the hate on Patrick too, but I can see somebody saying "How the heck does this guy not know what a safety is if he watches football?!" Cause I really don't watch nor like football, but I at least know what safety is. I don't not hate anyone from whiskey media, they all have really awesome/funny personalities which we all come to love, but yeah some of community just hates Patrick, Alex, or whoever for no damn reason....

This game seems like no fun at all! Jeff had like 2 billion fumbles a second and I'm pretty sure I saw one opponent throw a ball through Jeffs player.

Other than that.. that was a pretty pro move of the pro EA production pro bro to pick the team with pro stats.

I really enjoyed Patrick in this one, keep up the good work duders (:
