Seems like a good game, I'll have to check it out

Perfect game for Steam Deck.

I don't quite see the appeal. Watched a few reviews and this quick look and nothing stood out to me. Maybe you have to play it to get the praise, but it doesn't look that fun either from all the footage I've seen to try it for myself.

I could've sworn this game came out at least twice already. I'd like to check it out on Switch sometime (looks like a good work break game), but I guess that's not in the cards.

Might be something ad-related? I was having trouble playing the vid (just black screen) and so I disabled Adguard and it worked. Not sure what's up with that.

@mistersims: I'm not sure; we rolled out some substantial architecture/backend changes today so I assume it's related.

Spent a couple hours with it today, seems alright. Nothing immediately made me think "wow." So far I think I like the combat in Death's Door more, but I'm barely into Tunic so maybe it picks up.

This is on Gamepass as of today, for PC, Xbone and XESX/S .. so fun

This looks exactly like every other indie Zelda-like thing. The only unique thing in the video was the manual, which is actually really cool.

Why so much hype then? Are people just super in love with the cute main character?

Also, I will never understand why some people like it when games don't tell you what items do. Even Souls games have detailed item descriptions.

I have been super enjoying this game!

I like the look - its light effects are really nice. I was wondering though - does the fox know what’s up and the language barrier is just on the player? Is this The Quiet Man, but cuter?

I can report back after playing this a bit on Game Pass:

-Exploration and finding secrets is really good. Lots of Souls'ian mystery going on.

-The 'instruction manual' gimmick is quite compelling.

-Combat is flat-out bad.

-Fox looks dumb.

I've played an hour, and it's exactly as they explain it. Zelda + a Souls game. There are a TON of secret paths. Pretty much any blind corner you'll want to check around. Enjoying it, although you really need to attack and roll pretty liberally in the beginning or you are dying quickly once you get past the basic jelly enemies. Combat doesn't feel great with the stick, in the beginning.

Played this about a half day yesterday and this game is great. The combat is middling, but everything about the world, exploration, and discovery is probably the best I've seen since Fez. The amount of times that the game cleverly reveals something that is hiding in plain sight in terms of areas, mechanics, items, etc. is just incredible.

Zelda like a FOX!

I don't understand people balking so hard at the kawaii nature of this game. It reminds me of the early Wind Waker complaints. I think it looks great! I'm glad games are becoming more diverse in their visuals over the last several years.

Man, this game seems really intriguing. Bummer, that the combat feel and movement looks a little mushy, but still seems something I'll totally check out. The stuff I've always loved the most about both DS and Zelda is the feeling of getting lost into the world and just combing through every nook and cranny for treasure and stuff.

Yep, the combat really does feel slow and clunky. Uninstalled about 10 minutes after getting the sword.

Also, a lot of the exploration to find chests and such seems to revolve around checking every nook and cranny and hugging every wall for paths that are totally obscured. This is way more annoying than fun and rewarding.

Seems like this game just wants to copy everything Dark Souls does without understanding why those games work. Same problem with every other 'souls-like' I've tried, they are all poor imitations.

I thought the music sounded familiar and it turns out the composers is Lifeformed. They also made the soundtrack for Dustforce, which is one of my favorites.

It's been great to find a game like this that understands some of what makes Souls like games great (smaller scaled though of course) in terms of not all being conveyed to you and the joy of discovery in the world, more than other games that copy some of the corpse run mechanics/
