Unfinished: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout BETA 09/11/2018

As a PC-only person:

I don't know, a battle royal game with CoD's shooting is pretty interesting to me. Haven't played a CoD game since Modern Warfare, though, so maybe the shooting has changed in the interim.

Not a big fan of the 'realistic' bulletdrop and stuff in PUBG. I really prefer hitscan so if that's what they use here I might need to check this out.

Dammit Jason. Now I want a GI Joe battle royale game.

(Or battlefield game)

If I had a console, this would be the first Call of Duty game I would be interested in.

@gridrunner2049:I think the "issue" is that this is widely accepted as "pubg with better console performance and a lot less jank"

So if you don't play on console and are mostly fine with/used to the jank, this doesn't bring that much to the table.

And while pubg definitely needs to evolve/fix itself, there is definitely something to be said about being the default.

Good to see innovation from the major players.

Fun fact; I remember a a group of modders who were trying to create a GI-JOE total conversion for Battlefield: 1942.

About a year into their project, Hasbro descended on them like a flock of enraged harpies, screeching "Thief! Thiiieeeeeffff!" and scattering Cease-and-Desist letters and Intents to Sue all over the place like they were harpy-droppings.

But OMG, how awesome would that be? You have your classes, the crazy weapons and vehicles. It fits better than most X license in Y game genre ideas.

I really hope the new site design includes a way to enlarge these windows without clicking through to youtube.

PubG interested me but looked like Mud. Fortnite Interested me but that Building aspect repelled me Greatly. This Looks and Plays like PubG but has the Cod Polish. I might be in for a Battle Royale!

I'd say the full 6, but if I were to finish that last bottle, I'm pretty sure something catastrophic would have occurred and I would have probably been on the local news wearing handcuffs and an FU t-shirt.

I got in on pubg day one and loved it at first, but I eventually grew tired of its poor optimization. Even after 1.0, it still had issues that I was over trying to deal with. Blackout is definitely refreshing. I'm pretty surprised how much of a BR it actually is. I figured they would just half-ass throw a map together and have people deathmatch it up, but they went for it. It definitely lacks the tactical nature that makes pubg appealing, but it sure is nice to see something come out in beta with so much polish. I realize it's a much larger team with a bigger budget, but bluehole's focus hasn't really seemed to be fixing the game until recently. I think this mode is a nice addition to the genre.

Actually, H1Z1's ftp BR mode is available on the PS4. It is similar to PUBG, although it is kinda rough. Blackout looks to be a lot more polished.

@gridrunner2049: yeah. they seem to love that game almost to a fault.
I was pretty put off by PUBG getting the top spot when it still had so many problems/shortcomings from a technical perspective. Especially considering the polish and complete experience of Mario, Zelda, & Cuphead. (those are just the others in the top 5 I have experience with)

I really loved the Blackout beta and am thinking of buying BLOPS4 just to play it more. Also of note is that they bumped the player count to 100 yesterday (Monday) for the end of the beta, and it played fine during those matches, so I'll expect they'll launch with a 100 player count.
