Im starting to just completely ignore any game with souls in the title.

Looks very similar to Wayward Souls on iOS/Android.

Me too. Except the actual Souls-games of course.

But this trend among indies to put Souls in the game title is tiresome.

Really like this game. Plays like Nuclear Throne, nice, fast and lots of items to pickup. Just not a fan of the spawn. Enemies sort of just appear in the same room with you sometimes, annoying when your trying to clear rooms only to find the one your retreating to is now full of monsters.

You guys are aware that it's a generic word?

Haven't put too much into it yet but enjoying this game due to the Nuclear Throne similarities.

The melee characters didn't feel so great because I don't think the combat works so well with them yet, but then trying one of the ranged characters, which are the majority, that totally seems to be the way to play. Hope they will turn the melee around as it's good in NT.

I don't know if "This game is too easy" is fair to say if you haven't tried the hard mode yet. Still might be unbalanced but who knowssss

Yeah it's just the new Storm or Retribution or what have you. It's really generic sounding but book, cover, and all that.

Looks really boring. Also it's kinda weird how much health you get if this is a roguelike.

That red flash every time you get hit is very off-putting, especially as a melee character where you're in the thick of it always.

"Demon's Souls"? Really? Wow, they totally cribbed that name from Blazing Souls. What the hell, guys, try coming up with something original.

I am totally okay with games like this having a more forgiving difficulty. This looks great.

so an hour after watching this quicklook 3 separate twitter accounts connected to this games publisher tried to follow my twitter account. i didn't comment on this video until now, so are they just scraping the giantbomb userbase?

You and I both know why "Souls" is the second word in this two-word title. Just like the coincidental influx of games titled "Candy Star Saga," "Sweet Mania," "Jelly Sweet," etc. on mobile platforms.

Just a lazy way to associate yourself with something successful.

And like all those Saga games! Like the Banner Saga!

This looks like nucular throne, like a LOT like it. Which means i'll probably suck crap at it too.

Been watching this game for a bit now. I really like the look of it.

Yeah, there may be a little too many of these right now.

I wish they could at least change it up with a little Dungeon Master first person perspective or something.

And they're all just cribbing it from Soul Blazer anyway.

Got a very strong Risk of Rain vibe out of this. Especially the item design and the font. I'll keep my eyes open for this, and keeping my fingers crossed for console release.

I appreciate Mike just saying "Developer" instead of listing 10+ roles and putting his name to all of them.

That may be, but the indie scene is absolutely full of games that are trying to ride off the success of other games. It's not really an unreasonable assumption.

Seriously, it's starting to get to the point where if you show me a screenshot of a pixel art dungeon crawler, I couldn't tell you which game it is.

Damn it this looks fun. I friggin love Nuclear Throne so I feel like I HAVE to get this. :O

This game looks like Risk of Rain's mechanics with the leveling up abilities, and stacking items for tons of passive buffs, but in a different style of game.

@backstabuuu: To be fair, that goes for any size of developer. This week there's a game called "Victor Vran" coming out that to me just looks like the "Van Hellsing" series of Diablo-clones. And I of course don't have to mention the tons of shitty modern military shooters that have come out over the years trying to compete with CoD.

Also love the lack of deep menus that Brad would spend 15 minutes in, so that's cool. :)

Liked what I saw, but the controller support being absent seems like an odd choice. It is early access though so it could appear later on down the line. The way you unlock new characters appeared fun too, kind of like how you got them in Ziggurat
