Unfinished: Krautscape 04/17/2014

Cars with wings remind Drew and Jeff of Rush 2049, and that's all they need to hear.

Sometimes we look at a game before it's done. When that's the case? Well... it must be Unfinished.

@drewbert I really enjoyed the San Fransisco Rush games on N64. Most of the fun was just going off course and finding all the secret locations and crazy jumps hidden throughout the tracks.

Also, 2 player stunt mode was insanely fun. I could see Bugbear making a new San Francisco Rush game if they weren't already working on Next Car Game. Thoughts on that?

Am I remembering wrong, or was Rush 2049 the only one with the wings? Maybe the arcade versions were different than the console ones. I only really played Rush 2 on N64.

Shit seems boring as Hell. Guess it may just be because I'm not into racing games anymore, but...damn.

Ping Pong mode looks like it makes you go in one direction for 30 seconds per 'round' with the winner of each round being whoever goes through a gate first after the time limit (or perhaps just whoever is in the lead shortly after the timer hits 0). However, I noticed that the start of each round places you at the 'finish' of the previous round and you need to race back to the start of the previous round and start building a track once you get there. Basically, it goes Round 1: build A to B Round 2: race B to A (first gate is at A) and then build A to C Round 3: race C to B (first gate of the round is now at B) and then build B to D and so on.

I also agree with what seems to be the general consensus that the idea is neat, but the game looks kinda dull so far in terms of execution. I feel like the sheer scope of the space in which the game takes place in pretty much demands more vertical movement and possibly even more speed than the current game gives. It would also be nice to see a mode or modes where the track can split into 2 or more tracks from time to time so that more people than just the person in first can simultaneously build criss-crossing tracks either as a way of reaching a certain spot or just for fun; it would add a nice element of chaos to the mix and it would be a way to gradually and naturally give more power to players farther from the lead over time (i.e. first split means 2 different people can be making tracks, another split would mean 3 people, and so on).

I guess I'm basically saying that this game would probably be way more interesting if it had more modes where the focus was more heavily placed upon the track-building gimmick and on a larger scale rather than upon the concept of racing to be 'first'.

Looks pretty unbearable, duller than a foam sword.

Too bad games like this can often die a quick death dependent on the size of the community playing it (i.e. the lack thereof).

I think I got my fill of this game just by watching the quick look.

Looks pretty boring to me.
