Unfinished: The Solus Project 05/12/2016

We wander an alien world and drink of its waters, eat of its food, and die of its fiery hell-sky.

Sometimes we look at a game before it's done. When that's the case? Well... it must be Unfinished.

Hey Austin, actually you can find those "artificial" shapes on earth. LAVA!

First, i see multiple references to Northern Ireland (pronounced Norn Iron) on Reddit in a single day, now my wee country is on Giant Bomb!

It's nice to see references to it that don't involve the other thing it's famous for which, coincidentally, also involved giant bombs.

If you're ever in Northern Ireland, I can't recommend enough a drive up the North Antrim Coast. It's friggen beautiful.

@howlingtechie: Yeah, that storm around 22 minutes in really creeped me out - the audio work combined with the feeling of going off-map was like this weird uncanny sort of thing

I've had this on my Steam wishlist for a while. Glad to see the guys did a video of it. I may pick it up soon. Ugh...there's just too many games out right now!

@pop Yeah definitely, not sure if that's an in-game comment on switching or if it's residual voice work which was queued to finish from the game they played. (Austin says that phrase occasionally, but it sounds like the game not him)

So they said that they use a controller because it's a better viewing experience, but is this really the case?

I don't remember ever feeling weird when i see a mouse driven game being played. And the controller seems to be more of a hindrance. When they wanted to pick up the glowstick in the cave, Vinny moved the stick upwards, above the glowstick, downwards, below the glowstick, and then finally got it on the glowstick on the third try. Isn't that a worse viewing / playing experience compared to using the mouse? Sure, you can whip the mouse around at crazy high speeds to make it a bad experience, but this ain't quake. It's an adventure/ crafting game.

By now I really hate survival/crafting games, but this does actually look different enough to give it a shot.

Also never ever give Vinny a UT-style teleporter.

That is 100% Austin. He just whispered it.
