I agree with Rorie, Far Cry 6 didn't need a fishing game. And somehow it's way worse than Far Cry 5's fishing game. I think Red Dead Redemption has one of the best fishing games.

I'm not usually into stylistic suck as an aesthetic, but the santa game had just enough weirdness to wrap around to being funny to me. And Tower Unite has always been sufficiently silly to entertain me. Thanks for the chuckles to close out UPF for the year.

Jan: food, gas, everything is less literally everywhere in the universe than the Bay Area. In 2012, I was in San Jose and the cheapest room I could find was $1600 for a room in an weirdos house, and spent about the same in food and bills and lost money from saving every month. 2012 dollars.

Now I’m in portland Oregon, I pay $1365 for - whole 700 sq ft place of my own, maybe about $900 for other bills and food, and still have enough to add to savings each month, and I feel like I’m being ripped off. The Bay Area isnt worth staying in if remote work is permanent.

As a Newfie, it was pretty cool to hear this site's first mention (that I'm aware of) of the wonderful Newfoundland during this show!

It was made even cooler because this show happened to air on Tibb's Eve, a folkloric Newfoundland and Labrador holiday that contemporarily falls on the day before Christmas Eve. Its origins are murky, but nowadays it's mostly used to drink and eat with friends before the Christmas family times start. Of course, we got put back into a COVID lockdown the day before yesterday, so this year was a bit quiet. Thanks for inadvertently helping me celebrate!

The problem with Children of Morta is that all the melee characters are terrible and you can't just play the archer daughter the whole time because it makes them stay home if you use them too often in a row.

A couple of years ago, they did a segment of fan games (you may remember the live-action Hitman) and during that they played a side-scroller where the background Water Street in St. John's. Something cool about seeing your home on this site.

I hate to be a downer, but yeah, the melee characters only become viable after a LOT of upgrading. Like, endgame when you have the global family upgrades nearly maxed, nearly all characters have enough stats to be useable, but otherwise the melee characters just take damage too easily while not dishing damage out fast enough to justify the risk.

Still, you can alternate between Linda (archer) and Lucy (mage) without ever being forced to bench them, especially if you occasionally play Mark (monk) who is halfway decent.

The Children of Morta people made Garshasp which resulted in one of the best quick looks on this website.
