    Overview

    Shrek is a series of animation films based around the title character of Shrek. The series originally began as a children's book written by William Steig simply called Shrek!, which would later be adapted into a feature length film by DreamWorks Animation.

    The unexpected success of the 2001 animation film Shrek led to three sequels and a number of spin-offs. In the following years, the series attained a cult following and has spawned various internet memes.
