I'm sure this is great news, everyday I feel more and more like I'm the only person who's never played a Civ game.

putting an exclamation mark after that title is like saying Sun rises on another day! Man takes painful shit! Dog considering smelling other dogs genitals! so, no, i'm not stoked, but you have your fun.

I hope it's better and less frustrating than IV.

Just saw the Steam page, which has it listed for a Sept 1 release.  Dunno if that's legitimate/reliable or just a 'Q4' release date (sept 1 being the first day of q4 after all).  
 
Civ 5's emphasis on realism this time around makes me happy that the series is moving away from the ultra-cartoony caricatures of historical leaders, which I found off-putting.  But it my also mean Civ 5 could be an even bigger system hog than previous Civs.  (As an aside, I hate how turn-based strategy developers seem to think all TBS players are infinitely patient and that they can therefore cutback on responsiveness and performance of the AI and UI...).  Of further concern is that judging by the screenshots, the map is now hex-based whereas all the previous Civs were  effectively octagon-based. 

it better have an epic theme like "Baba Yetu"
