    Awesome 0

“Mommy’s all right.  Daddy’s all right.  They just seem a little weird.”  Every time I hear it, the song brings me back to the two or three glorious weeks playing skate on my 360.  By far on of the best sports titles of 2007, skate was everything I didn’t expect it to be – fun.  From the free roaming sandbox-style play to the mini-games, this game is near perfect in my opinion.  The only thing that holds is back is the controls.  Some of the challenges and missions demand specific tricks that c...

Just too difficult for me 0

So to get two things out of the way, I am a skateboarder in real life and I do have a long history playing the Tony Hawk series. I really do greatly appreciate what skate. tried to bring to the genre -- a bit more realism and authenticity. But I admittedly just struggled far too much with the controls that in my opinion really asked you to be a little to precise at times for my liking.I found myself really not enjoying the game, and having trouble just gaining proper speed for tricks, or even ju...

Skate. An amazing new skating franchise 0

Skate is a great addition to the plethora of skating games that are available now. The trick system is great, fluid and creates a very easy to play game that takes time to master, but is easy to pick up.The game is also a refreshing release from the Tony Hawk games which are good but they steadily get worse as they come out year after year. If you are into skating games and are unsure about this game you should get it.  The game takes basic skating controls and rebuilds  them. All tricks are don...

Reinventing the way you skate in a video game. 0

Skating in the video game industry was largely run by the monopoly of the Tony Hawk series, that is until EA unveiled skate., a revolutionary way to simulate skating in a video game. And boy, did they nail it down real well. They did away with button mashing with the Tony Hawk series, and went straight to the right thumbstick, controlling most of the tricks. This system was ingenious, the right thumbstick mimicked everything your front foot did, such as a kickflip, or a pop shove-it. That in its...

A good game, but at times flawed 0

Skate. is a skateboarding video game, where you design your own character, and enter a big city, where you can skate wherever you want, provided that you unlocked the locations in Career Mode first. The Flickit control scheme is a good idea that actually makes the game feel more realistic but its not executed perfectly. Examples are when you try to do a kickflip but end up doing either an Ollie or a Pop Shoveit instead. The hard fliptrick moves are exactly what it says on the tin, hard to do. You...

A great start to a new generation of skateboarding games. 0

I think its time for a new skateboarding game. The last other skateboarding game apart from the TH series was simpsons skateboarding which i would rather not talk about.... So Ea bring out this game called skate. (No prizes for guessing what genre it is....) Skate brings a new set of controls called Flickit. This is the main feature of the game that sets it aside from TH. Basically you use both anologue sticks to do tricks, the left anologue controls the person and the right anologue for the boa...

EA spreads it's wings over the extreme sports genre. 0

Set in a vast, vibrant, sunny skater paradise that never rains, snows, thunders, or, even has nightfall, Skate takes away the gimmicky cities in past skateboard games (can you guess which?), that always somehow seem to feature perfectly placed ramps in random places, and brings a new, exciting edge into skating games: realism. Skate is the 'simulation' to Tony Hawk's 'arcade' style, that throws away the silliness, and smacks you in the face with a harsh dose of reality. Gone are the days of 80,...

    Skate... Truly phenomenal 0

This is a game that i really like to play whenever I'm either pissed off or just want to mellow out. It's a great, great stress reliever. This game isn't incredibly fun off the bat it's kind of annoying. But once you get the controls all together it really just is a very great experience that is to be remembered.     The good Great Graphics/Enviroments. Awesome and inventive gameplay. Great voice acting and fine story.                                                                        ...

Skate manages to dethrone the king. 0

Since its premiere in 1999 the Tony Hawk series has been the king of the extreme sports genre. Not only did it make skating more mainstream but it helped revolutionize the extreme sports genre which up to that point consisted mainly of snowboarding titles. But as the Tony Hawk series continued with its yearly sequels the franchise lost some of its luster, almost becoming like the Madden series. So it’s a bit of a surprise that Electronic Arts, the king of running franchises into the ground, is r...

Skate is a fun game with fresh ideas 0

The Good: The new Flick-it control system makes it feel like you are really doing the tricks - Ok Graphics, but still almost everything on the Xbox 360 has good graphics - You can share your footage with everybody, well everybody that can access EA Skate's website. The Bad: Some challenges in the career mode can be very difficult - In some Jam sessions online you are placed in a small area with 6 other people and expected to win - Sometimes the loading screen can get a little annoying. The story ...

skate. delivers on its name. You will skate in this game... 1

...so it is a good thing that EA got that mechanic right in this game. For a rookie franchise, this is actually a rather good first effort. In .skate, you'll play as a skater working their way up the from unknown to sponsored skater to skate legend. The game plays out in a sort of open ended city, where you'll be skating around completing objectives like collecting skate footage and still pictures along with "Owning" special areas around the city and facing other skaters in various skating chall...

    Skate. 0

I thought skate was a great new take on the old skating games. The controls were intuitiave and really made you want to learn new tricks. And although that was the focus, the gameplay that came out of it can be compared to real skating almost side by side. Most of the time i spent with the game, I spent finding new stairs or a rail, or just an upward angle. It really pushed the video uploading and I wish they got rid of the X Games segment because it was just a really big distraction from the re...

One of the Best Skating Games Out There 0

Let me start off first by saying, I love skateboarding and I've always loved the videogames that are associated with it. I've played Tony Hawk for years now and once I picked up the game, Skate, I was deeply surprised. Skate completely changes the mechanics of skateboard games that I once knew. The right stick controls your board and the left stick controls your character. By flicking the right stick in various ways, you can pull off ollies, kickflips, nollies, and a large amount of other trick...

Some clumsy design choices and technical issues brings it down. 0

First off. I´m not very into skating. I occasionally put on the Extreme Sports channel to enjoy some tricks, I can name most of the tricks you can do on a board, I listen to some punkrock and skatepunk and I find some of the clothing connected with the skateculture kinda nice and consider it stuff I could wear on an everyday basis. But thats about it. I have never tried to learn riding a skateboard and I find the Tony Hawk games to be some of the most frustrating games you can play on any platfo...

    Breath of fresh air 0

I wasn't realy sure if i new if skate was ganna be a good game. I first saw gameplay for it online and i felt it looked to much like a sim and was going to be a tony hawk rip-off. I also thought that it would be to simy but I can tell you i was sadly mistaken....The presintation... From the first opening seen in skate i could tell that i was going to be in for a ride the rest of the story flows like your typical rise up from the tops but after the tutorial you fell like in your in a real city......

    Peace Tony. 0

For nearly a decade, the Tony Hawk series has been running unopposed as the only worthy skateboarding title. EA's skate. was looking to change that last September, and for the most part, it succeeded that goal. As opposed to Tony Hawk's, skate. is all about realism and simulation, instead of insane jackass stunts. skate. uses a great physics engine, and flickit controls. Using the right analog stick allows your skater to manipulate the board, just as a normal skater would. Certain motions made ...
