    Overview

    Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer is an indie comedic contemporary-fantasy deliberately-retro first-person shooter developed by Big Z Studios and published digitally by No More Robots for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on June 1, 2023.

    A spin-off of Tendershoot's fake-OS adventure game Hypnospace Outlaw, Slayers X is presented as a game developed in-universe by edgy teenager Zane Lofton back in 1998, only to be discovered and finished by him in the modern day. Although built in the modern Unity engine, the game reconstructs the feel and aesthetic of the retro Build Engine while including intentionally low-quality pre-rendered 3D graphics.

    In the game, which is based on Zane's in-universe "Slayers X" series of hand-drawn comics (under "Big Z Studios Comics"), players control Zane himself as the last of the "X Slayers" as he fights the forces of the "Psyko Sindikate", who are using the X Slayers' secret power of the "Hackblood" to enslave humanity.
