    Overview

So Hungry is partly social commentary inspired by developer Byron Atkinson-Jones' experience in San Francisco while visiting GDC 2013.

    Development

The game had failed to gather attention on Steam Greenlight but Nintendo approached Atkinson-Jones about bringing the game to Wii U in the Summer of 2013. So Hungry was announced to be coming to Wii U in a European Nintendo Direct highlighting independent developers from Europe and Australia. Ultimately, in May 2015, Atkinson-Jones returned his Wii U devkit with the game still being unreleased. However, the project is still alive and will likely appear on iOS/PC at some point in the future.

    Gameplay

    No Caption Provided

In So Hungry, players have to beg for money from townspeople in order to be able to buy food and survive on the streets. The mechanics are kept deliberately simple to emphasize the lack of options for a homeless person. Dave has to approach Townies to beg for money, getting too close will scare them away. Then there is the police to watch out for along with bullies who make Dave's life harder than it needs to be.
