    it's great, it's new, it's not the best, but it's good

    so yay sonic lost world is here

    is it good is it bad well let's find out shall we.

    well let me first say there is big miss in the opportunity here.

    why?

    because if you played previous sonic games you’ve probably seen the tails tablet thing

    and the wii u has a very similar thing as a controller

    so why isn't there a sonic lost world wii u bundle with a tails tablet thingy as a controller huh?

    it just feel like a very missed opportunity i would have bought it,

    honestly sonic lost world is the only game i currently own for the wii u.

    well who knows maybe next wii u sonic game will be more thoughtful

    before i start my review i just want to say that this game is great while it's on system that’s not very popular with the ladies it’s a great system with potential.

    I honestly got wii u only for sonic lost world for some it may sound stupid but I’m stupid so you know.

    So sonic Lost world is technically a sequel to sonic generations but you don't need to play that game to know what's going on here

    but you should play it just because it's awesome.

    The story without any spoilers is sonic and tails chase eggman to rescue woodland critters but eggman shoots them and they have to make an "emergancy landing" so they land on a planet called lost hex and they don't really seem to be much bothered about it. Later we find out that eggman has a base here and has built an evil vacuum that reaches sonics planet without any trouble.

    Eggman has new friends called the Zeti and all their names start with a Z. at a certain point sonic does something without thinking he basically kicks a shell out of eggmans hand and makes eggman lose control over the deadly six, by the way this is nothing like the sonic I know but i'll talk about that later.

    so now sonic and eggman have to team up to stop the evil zeti from destroying sonic planet and the rest of the world.

    The rest you need to find out for yourself.

    so what's new, not much well actually a lot in new

    this is a completely different sonic game than ever before,

    but why?

    ow maybe because the controls are different, the style of gameplay is different and we

    have a new enemy the Zeti as opposite to eggman.

    what's different about the controls, sonic will only walk slowly if you move the left analog stick, wait why is sonic so slow?

    well it's because sonic now has a run button which gives you more control over sonics speed

    it's kind of like with sonic unleashed when they introduced the boost feature

    it took some time get used to it, but that gimmick felt very welcome and it felt very sonic

    while this just feels new, and It definitely gives you more control in 3d levels

    sonic is now also a professional parkourer? he can now run up the walls and on the side of the walls, and skip on the walls ... it's very underplayed

    there are very few places where you use this feature and it's not forced on you almost at

    all, i think you only need it to collect the red rings. It’s a good and bad thing

    and what's more disappointing about this parkour is that you don't get any tutorial explaining how it works

    you're just supposed to know how to use it. I know there are question marks that give hints but I prefer the omochao flying and annoying me with tips that was fun

    running on walls feels week at moments cos you know sonic was able to run on a wall for a almost endless period of time if you had the speed,

    but here he slows down for no apparent reason and falls down unless you use the spin dash

    which i only learn by playing the 3ds version, you can also continue the wall run by jumping on to a parallel wall if there is one of course.

    Double jump is back from sonic colours and that's all i have about it.

    the spin dash is back but i don't know it fells sort off weak i know i'm repeating myself but that's how i feel.

    Spin dash was great in adventures 1 and 2 then in generations and even in colours with the spikes wisp but here, when i blast of from a ramp with a spin dash i don't feel the dash part. I know it was kind of a game breaker but come on. There is a section in the game where I feel the spin dash was more powerful because I can’t reach these rings.

    new lock on system is here and I kind of hate it btw, you lock onto multiple enemies which works in some levels but sometimes it will lock onto enemies you don't even see. I honestly preferred the single lock-on it was great

    You also have a charge attack that’s useful on bosses but it doesn't always work for some reason

    There is also a kick attack that works only on certain enemies but you need to figure out which ones. I like that.

    So now the second biggest change is the levels they’re spherical, tubular, pretzels like, They’re very similar to mario galaxy which Is a game I have not played yet but I know what they are. They use similar gimmick but they are different games. Sonic Adventure 2 had the planetoid gimmick way before galaxy. Even sonic extreme had that but that’s unreleased.

    so levels, they are beautiful and full of great stuff it is a bit confusing to know where you are because there are multiple routes to take depending on where you are on sphere, but after few playthorughs you'll get the hang of it easily.

    The levels to me feel like a pick and mix, you get this bag of great candy but each one is completely different and some don’t really go together. But it somehow works

    I've heard it took sonic team 5 months to make the sphere code to work Which shows it was a challenge, I like developers that challenge them self

    What I love the most about sonic lost world is that they didn’t just make generations 2 but a new game which shows character and quality of sonic team.

    The levels are great

    There isn't a single level i would hate I actually love all the levels, the designs and the locations, well I only hated the tornado section where the screen is locked and i'm moving very slow.

    The levels change the gameplay very often aside from the standard platforming

    - you get grinding levels which are just grinding, and they just feel weak because why not a grinding parts in a levels like in previous games. I can picture how they could have done that like a grind rail going round the sphere in a random shape.

    There are 2d sections but they are either separate levels, or appear after entering a door, not like in previous game where it was smooth transition.

    Theirs is a snowball level cos why not?

    there’s also running level which reminds me of sonic 06 where you run and you can’t stop but unfortunately there’s only one level like that, I want more.

    There’s a candy level in a deset section of the game, get it?

    you know that cool world screen turn feature from the trailer? only used once

    And what the hell happened to loops? I can count every loop in the game on my one hand, yes that many.

    What disappoints me the most is the underplayed parkour it’s mostly only needed for red rings not the main play through.

    The levels just lack that final touch to add all the sonic in to the game. I guess sequel is needed to fix that or maybe not... Haven’t seen one in ages

    wisps are back but they’re not the gimmick here, while you do need some of them to complete the game they’re not the main attraction and there is no backwards level compatibility with them.

    you know like you it was in sonic colours where you would need to unlock laser wisp to access previously unreachable places and etc.

    new wisps are A Hawk which let’s you fly, comet which turns stuff into squares, rhythm which let’s sonic move by tapping note on the screen.

    some of the new wisps don't even seem useful like the comet or rhythm, they're only needed for red rings

    I love the drill update it just feels like this feature should have been on this badboy from the start. He only appear in two levels I think but he does gets his 3d debut under water, kind of clunky but cool.

    the wisps are the only thing in the game that uses the tilt, gyro and touch features of the controller tilting the comet wisp or bomb wisp can be a clunky, taping the rhythm is strange and it feels unsatisfying,

    The gyro works great for rocket wisp which got an upgrade to 3d instead of being 2d just up.

    and additionally some wisp don't even need to use the controllers gimmicks but the game doesn't tell you that instead it tells you that you need to use the gimmick, drill is the best example.

    boss battles, are a “piece of cake”

    i don't like to give spoiler to games but, at the end of the game they just disappear without any like cutsceene or anything just poof ... strange stuff, scary even

    and they are not separate levels they're integrated into levels which is very much like in nights into dreams games.

    to be honest this whole game feels like sonic has entered the nights realm in terms of the game design,

    and i'm not talking about the dlc, it just has the feel of the game in places,

    bosses in nights are on the short and easy side, same here,

    in nights the levels end with a boss meaning if you fail the boss you need to start

    the level from the beginning similar here,

    random sonic transformation like the snowball remind me of the unusual shapes nights changes into like a boat or a roller coaster

    the similarities between the games are not strange when you think about it cos they're both sonic team games.

    Ow and btw last boss battle very underwhelming in terms of difficulty just so you know

    By this you’re probably think sonic lost world is easy ha! This game is hard as hell, I’ve seen the game over screen at least a 100 of times and counting.

    Btw who’s idea was it to put these skip the level part if you have only one life left, it’s optional but come on it takes away satisfaction from completing a level, make it a easy mode option not a standard option.

    To progress in the game you need to rescue animals a certain amout is always needed you can find them in the levels by destroying containers or enemies or by completing a carnival level which uses the touch on the wii u gamepad but don't play it on it because it cuts out like half of the screen.

    there is a time attack mode which is strange because time counting was always standard thing in sonic but not in here,

    in normal gameplay you get countdown as opposite to count-up?

    The red rings are back, collect them to unlock carnival levels and get all of them to get super sonic still haven’t done it (very hard to do)

    Music in sonic lost world, is hands down one the best sonic music ever made, it's not crush 40 but the deadly six theme it's just straight down badass, amazing and so catchy every song in this game is catchy and memorable I honestly want more of this music.

    graphics are great constant 60fps well 97% of the time it only drops frame in the first level the most then in grinding levels and in the first beach level.

    the game has a very noticeable pop up but it's not that bad and it's easy to overlook.

    the game is very colourful and it just screams happiness.

    The character models are great, the zeti are very well designed… I like them.

    Now what i hate about the story are 3 things:

    1. roger craig smith which i think is a good voice actor not great but I like him on regular show

    in here gives his D grade performance it's like “ow it's another sonic game they still make them? let's get this over with. “

    Btw he has the sonic voice but he’s not sonic, ryan drumond and Jason Griffith hope I pronounce that right, they seemed to knew their character, for roger craig it's just another job “when do i get paid, what only this much well i'll try my best”

    and you know ryan and jason, they were/are not stars when compared to roger who’s in many video games,

    and it shows to me here how underrated voice actors are better than famous ones

    I’m not a voice actor so I can’t relate but I swear putting effort into performance is a necessity

    2. i have no idea who wrote the dialog for characters because while the story is fine in places, this is not sonic, tails or amy I know. Since when is amy so calm and nice to sonic, and in one scene amy is like “sonic I never told you I …” what I stole one of your chilli dogs and now I have a diarrhoea? cos you said sonic you love him like a million of times I swear.

    And since when did tails become such a douche, seriously all he does in this game is brag about how good he is, (QUOTE FROM GAME) and how sonic doesn't appreciate him (QUOTE FROM GAME). what the hell last time i knew tails, he was a shy fox who knew his way around electronics and knew how to take a complement without being a dick about it seriously,

    And sonic ah sonic he acts like a never before he’s basically the stupid guy in here, he just does everything here without thinking, he acts like he’s never been in a situation where his friend is captured, that’s not the sonic I know.

    Seriously these new writers since sonic colours need learn the characters.

    It feels more like a fan fiction. Rather than a real sonic game.

    3. the story has way to many loop holes, what happened to the zeti? Who are the zeti why are they evil, what is this planet of hex, how come it’s lost but eggman has a base there that reaches sonics planet without any trouble, what happened to the shell i swear sonic didn't kick it that far maybe it fell into the sand pit I don’t know, i could go on and on about this stuff.

    and what's funny you can't re watch the cutseens on wii-u, what's strange is that the 3ds version has the replay videos feature the but the quality sucks and some video were cut so yeah. i guess it was like “o shit we forgot to add that. ow no harm done”.

    2player mode is here and it's okay you've got racing and something else it’s not sonic adventure 2 multiplayer quality,

    Interestingly wii u gamepad comes very handy in 2players one player plays on the tv with a wii remote or something else and the other one plays on the controller it’s quite fun if you have someone to play with,

    In terms of replay value there is a great one like with any sonic game, replaying levels to access different routes, finding red rings, collecting animals, time trials, missions. It’s great.

    The menu is a hub world on which you can walk on,but can’t jump or anything.

    This game has probably the shortest loading screens ever in a disc based sonic game

    ow right i almost forgot the mii verse integration which btw i don't know how it actually works but it's very strange stuff, you get items for doing stuff, and you can only hold up to 5 things and they are actually in game power ups so no container in the levels and how do you get a better star on an item i don't know, you can wisp these items away but after a while they come back then there is this bomb wisp only accessible through that and i have no idea how it works.

    so yeah did you catch that? well i didn’t and i said that it's a mess and while an interesting feature it's useless why can't these power ups be in the game? Huh?

    There is connectivity between the 3ds version and wii u, if you make an rc in the 3ds version you can transport it into wii u and use it in co-op but since that suck I didn’t try that feature and apparently you need an online connection to make that work.

    ow and there's also missions there are bomb mission but you don’t get bombs unless you have the dlc or someone gives you one… stupid!

    LITTLE TOUCHES THAT I LIKE

    -the face boss setting is later in the next boss battle.

    -almost every tree has something in it.

    -different routes can mean completely different play through

    -the sheep can be use as bounce pads

    -the candy level in the desert world, cool pun.

    -shadow movement on ice done by sonic

    -trees and bushes have their own snow that can be removed by touching it

    -love the flowing in the air juice made from apples and pineapples

    -tails theme from sonic adventure in the hidden level,

    -the hairy pacman creature in the last hidden level

    -flying the tornado plane in hidden level

    -the way the rings get stuck to the snowball is just magical

    -to enter the nights dlc level sonic needs to fall asleep, nice touch

    -chaos emeralds are lying in the hub world

    -the rc vechicles are cool

    -the map on the wii u controller screen has some cool designs for each world

    -each diamond in the underground world has got one ring

    -

    I really like that sonic is not on ps and xbox, I believe sonic feels more at home on nintedo now a days but It would feel more at home on a dreamcast successor huh sega?

    Sonic Lost World is a must have in my opinion on wii u, It features great variety in gameplay, amazing music, solid replay value and it’s just sonic tastic.

    Now go buy it or played if you already did it’s a great game.

    And the sonic nightmare dlc which is inspired by nights is great not perfect but it’s good.

    CHANGES/FIXES NEEDED TO BE DONE FOR THE NEXT GAME

    -STORY AND CHARACTER LINES

    -WHILE I DON’T WANT TO SEE “LOST WORLD 2” I WANT THE SPHERICAL GAMEPLAY TO COME BACK

    -BRING THE PLANE MINIGAME FROM HIDDEN WORLD TO FUTURE LEVELS

    -TIME COUNTING SHOULD BE BACK AND SCORE COUNTING AND GRADES AS A MAIN GAMEPLAY

    -THE HUD SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO TURN OFF NOT JUST DISAPEAR

    -100 RINGS SHOULD = A LIFE

    -SPECIAL STAGES WOULD BE NICE – SONIC COLOURS

    -AT THE END WHEN YOU GET A RESULT ON HOW YOU DID MAKING IT INTERACTIVE AGAIN WOULD BE NICE

    -GRINDING SHOULD BE A PART OF A LEVEL

    -SLIGHTLY MORE DIFFICULT BOSSES ESPECIALLY THE FINAL BOSS BATTLE

    -SPIN DASH SHOULD BE BETTER (MORE POWERFUL)

    -RING DASH? SHOULD BE BACK

    -REMOVE MULTIPLE LOCK ON

    -REMOVE THE SHITTY LAST LIFE SKIP OR MAKE IT AN OPTION

    -BE ABLE TO WATCH VIDEOS AND LISTEN TO MUSIC

    -SNOWBOARDING IN ANY LEVEL 3DS HAS IT

    -LESS EPHASIS ON MOTION GIMMICKS

    -NEW EGGMAN BOSS CONTRAPTIONS

    -RING, SHIELD, LIFE CONTAINERS

    -MORE DRILL!!!!!!!!!
