Soulcalibur IV Review
First off, let me say that i've been a HUGE fan of the Soul games ever since Soul Blade came out on PSone. I have played them all for a ridiculous amount of time. So that may sway my review right there. There's just something about this series that keeps me coming back. When I heard about online play I was naturally ecstatic.
The gameplay here is phenomenal as always. If you've played a SC game before, then you know what to expect. The addition of Critical Finishers and Armor Breaking is a great addition mainly because they don't affect the core gameplay at first glance. CF's are a pretty rare sight unless you are playing against scrubs online, which is exactly why I love their addition to this game. Playing against a "noob" online, you will get the chance to punish them with a CF. It's a great way to punish turtlers.
The single player modes are so-so at best, but then again in the Soulcalibur universe, they always have been (well since SCII, in my opinion). Fighting with friends or, in SCIV's case, online is where the fun is to be had. Although you definitely will experience lag from time to time depending on your connection, I still believe that if you are a fan of Soulcalibur's fighting system then you will love this game as much as I do. It's just plain fun and that's what it's all about.
