St. Mystere is a mysterious village that Professor Layton visits to deal with the rather curious problem of the Golden Apple. It contains a large mansion, an inn, a clock tower, several homes, a decript amusement park and a dark, foreboding tower.
The defining characteristic of St. Mystere is that all of the residents of the town from the mischievous young lady to the stout gourmand are absoloutely wild about puzzles. Very few of them can carry on a conversation for more than a moment before challenging Layton to a riddle or asking Luke to solve some sort of problem. While this behaviour is certainly amusing it is also quite comical as Layton and Luke beome slightly frazzled at the lengths to which they must go to gather even the smallest morsels of information.
