So Battlefront is getting shown at the Star Wars convention in the next few days and all the long dormant twitter accounts have all sprung into life posting "soon". I feel like Brent Spiner in Independence Day. The instagram for "EA Star Wars" has been posting a series of images of a storm trooper, but I thought i'd share them all stitched together because it's a bit out of the norm and because I will take any excuse to talk about this game.

I'm pretty up on Star Wars EU and new canon alike and I don't think there's ever been a Stormtrooper exactly like this. The shoulder guard is similiar to the Sandtroopers' and some of the background Stormtroopers on Tatooine who have black pauldrons. Interestingly the gun they chose isn't the standard E-11 Stormtroopers normally use but is a DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle, which is basically a Star Wars light machine gun (fitting because the DLT-19 is actually just a modified MG-34, a German WW2 machine gun).

Obviously the biggest thing is the breathing tube/backpack. The only thing close to this in any media I've encountered is the light Spacetrooper armour which is featured for about 5 seconds in A New Hope. This begs the question why does this trooper need a breathing apparatus? The only reasonable thing to do is to jump to wild conclusions and say that since this vaguely lines up with light spacetroopers from ANH who are outside the Death Star that this is undeniable confirmation of not only space battles but also space-walking battles. Or it could be meaningless flare to visually distinguish the classes. We'll probably find out in a day or two. A few people are saying this could be an in-game render as well. I could believe it considering Battlefield 3/4 look pretty bloody unreal.

    What do you guys think?

Aye those are toys based on the aforementioned scene from A New Hope. They're different from the picture from the Star Wars instagram in that their tube reaches under their helmet rather than attaching at the "mouth", they lack the pauldron and are armed with T-21's (British Lewis light machine guns) rather than DLT-19s (MG-34)
