A Must Buy for The RTS Gamer

While I am not typically a fan of RTS games, there is something to be said and appreciated about just how complete this game is. StarCraft II is about as complete and engaging as they come when it comes to strategy games and should not be missed by fans of the genre. The game needs no introduction and is sure to remain the industry standard for complex, yet simple real time strategic game play. I can't think of any other game that offers a more satisfying RTS experience or looks nearly as good while doing so. The game is simply gorgeous from top to bottom and the gameplay itself, while not a revolutionary step forward, stands out on its own.

Although it may take a certain type of person to excel at playing the game, I think there is something for everyone in SC2. The single player campaign offers a series of challenging offline missions, where you meet the great cast of characters and immerse yourself in the StarCraft universe. Some may be a little overwhelming on the harder difficulties, but at the same time provide players with rigorous hours of practice for the online and competitive game modes the game and Battle.net has to offer. There are also challenge modes where players will be required to test their skills in a variety of interesting ways. This gives the game a bit of balance and diversity from the usual goals; also adds replay value.

Overall the game is a worthy (do i dare say successor?) sequel to the original installment and offers fans with a refreshing new experience. The actual structure of the game isn't so different from the original but is very refreshing to see updated and more simplified. Blizzard did a great job bringing the game into 2010 and you can be sure that it will be played for a long time. Plus, with the other 2 campaigns still to come, it's likely that StarCraft will remain one of the most-played games of all time.

Not Just a Fresh Coat of Paint 0

Starcraft 2 is a game that’s been a long time coming.   It’s also a game that’s gotten a whole mess of negative sentiment from what I can only hope is the usual vocal minority on the internet who condemn games like this based on some weird bizzaro-world metric for what makes games fun.   That said, let’s go ahead and get those concerns out of the way.   Starcraft 2 is not Starcraft 1 with a shiny new coat of paint.   When you buy Starcraft 2, you are not paying $60 for 1/3 of a game.   If thos...

StarCraft II was worth the wait. 0

It’s here. After twelve long years, StarCraft II is finally here! And I’m here to give you the run-down of how things are in the world of StarCraft. Enjoy your stay!   I bought the collector’s edition. I normally don’t buy collector’s editions, but I actually really respect Blizzard’s games. They’re pretty much perfect on release, and when you buy a Blizzard game, you know you’re buying quality. It’s like buying a Valve game. The packaging is pretty awesome. It’s made of cardboard, but it’s n...
