First appearing for Team Fortress 2, the workshop was used to allow customers to vote and approve of user-made hats and items that Valve might opt to include in the game. Since then, the scope of Steam workshop has expanded to include mods, levels/maps, and other features as new games are added. On October 2, 2012, GameMaker was added to steam as along with other non-gaming software, increasing the scope again to include player-created games.
